Yeah, this kind of shit actually happens way less theses days than, like, any other time in human history. If anything, the fact that thousands are aware of it & are outraged by it is a sign of progress.

Erik Karlsson's recent injury reminded me how gross it is when an Achilles is cut. Apparently, the muscle snaps like an elastic band, and rolls up inside your leg almost to your knee. Doctors have to thread it back down to your ankle and staple it in place. Is this the creepiest semi-regular injury in sports?
