CYBERTRONIAN DANCE PARTY!!
I think it does serve a purpose beyond “just because we can.” It’s a tiny but significant refutation of the “this is grimdark Star Trek” complaint: despite the fact that they’re in a bloody war and are being forced to make hard choices about their principles, Tilly and Stamets are still fundamentally driven by the…
I took Sansa’s admission that she doesn’t tend to catch on quickly and call back to his “little game” of imagining the worst to mean that his plot was actually working just fine right up until then.
“It just so happens that your democracy here is only MOSTLY dead. There’s a big difference between mostly dead and all dead. Mostly dead is slightly alive. With all dead, well, with all dead there’s usually only one thing you can do.”
My lady friend and I now always refer to her as Hermione Clinton. Both because of the reasons you mentioned, but also because she’s the one who actually saved the day time and time again yet almost never got any credit for it.
You’re absolutely right that the “free” college thing was a wild exaggeration, I should have known better to put it that way and will own up to that. It’s a complicated plan overall, but here’s a general overview of what I was talking about: http://time.com/money/3990445/…
Yes, which is despicable. You know what? Find me a goddamn president of the United States in the last century who shouldn’t by all rights be brought to trial for war crimes. Anybody involved with major decisions at the international level in this country has blood on their hands, and even if Jill Stein were to win the…
If they are basing this at all off of the IDW comics, then my every dream will come true. Transformers has pulled off some remarkably smart content for kids over the years (TF Animated, Beast Wars, etc.), but the comics (particularly More Than Meets the Eye) have honestly been better than anything bearing the name…
Credit where it’s due for trying to give her the benefit of the doubt. Because you’re right, people (even those who should know better) are all too quick to resort to misogynistic attacks on prominent women.
GHW Bush always struck me as one of the last sane Republicans. Hell, the guy called Reagan out on the fact that trickle down economics was bullshit (before selling out for the VP slot, of course).
Personally, I’m right there with you.
Sweet, thank you for pointing this out - I was at that ceremony the other day, but didn’t get to see the actual bottle breaking moment because my lady friend and I snuck out at the end of the First Lady’s speech to avoid the ridiculous traffic.
You’d certainly think that, right? Most people who glorify the King James Bible have an answer to that, though: they claim that the KJB was a divinely inspired translation, on par with (or even superior to) the original Hebrew, Greek, and Aramaic versions. It’s holy in a way that no other English translation can be...…
It’s an old school thing - English used to capitalize all nouns, and a lot of the hard core religious types are deeply into reading things like the King James Bible in their original format.
I remember when an old roommate of mine came back from Afghanistan a few years ago. He was haunted and enraged by this very issue, and his experiences helplessly standing by why his Afghan “allies” assaulted young children eventually led him to become very Islamophobic.
At the risk of dogpiling, I’d like to explain two of the reasons why the mentality you mentioned can actually create significant problems down the road, because I know it’s not always very well spelled out in a culture that takes this sort of thing for granted:
