I need an app that can enable me to copy any text on screen. Preferably free and portable ie: no install required. It will be used on my work PC which is locked down as far as software installation is concerned.

@Nathan Bacheller: And spreads nice and even when cold too. I'll try the lid next time though.

@vostokoflove: No problem at all. Here is a real detailed guide:

@cronin4392: CyanogenMod only works for G1, MyTouch3G and Nexus One phones. NOT the Droid. There are other ROMs out there but I don't follow the Droid ROM scene as close as I do the G1/Nexus One ROMs.

@vostokoflove: Just root it. You'll wonder why you didn't sooner. I've been running 2.1 on my G1 since it hit AOSP repositories.

@HTB: Cyanogen continues to build onto the latest release and you get better updates. Cyanogen disables OTA updates on all of his releases to keep from losing root. But to update to the latest ROM release after you've rooted is as easy as rebooting your phone into recovery and reflashing the ROM. No data loss.

@capitalH: For this one anyway you can put that fear away. Tis legit.

@Tyler Sebastian: It's not data only. It will run on T-Mo's service as well.

I need a really good dry erase pen with a fine tip. What it's used for is on laminated cards that get handled by people who don't care to maintain legibility. We tried wet erase pens and those work good until someone touches the markings and they get smeared from sweaty hands. We also tried sharpies and those work

@mmmiles: Winning comment of the day. Hearted.

@dieriding: The light bulbs themselves complete the circuit.

Lifehacker esp is working again. Going tomorrow to get our tree and with tips like this we'll have a nice one.

Now I'm going to set mine to Comic just to irk the font Nazis.

What cool gloves in that pic? Anyone know?

@stephen.morrish: hinge side out. You can use the handle side/hole for monitor/mouse/keyboard cables.

@robmcbell: I found mine at my local recycle center/dumps/refuse location for only $10. A new hollow door from a hardware store shouldn't cost much more than $60 if you want a new one.
