It is a well-made game and is deserving of the narrative award, but it is not the most fun game made this year. It’s a unique experience, but the games should be judged on how fun they are. That’s what I think.

The story in the TLOU2 is gripping and exciting if not anxiety-inducing, but the gameplay is nowhere near as fun as any other nominee, except maybe Animal Crossing. Even then, AC gameplay may be monotonous, but the whole experience is so much nicer than the frustrating mess that is TLOU2

It’s an inconvenience is what it is, and that’s why it gets people riled up. Why use the terms “first playthrough” and “spoiler-free” when you can just say “blind playthrough”. Using less words is just effective communication and how language evolves.

Sea travel isn’t that great, and so I prefer the tighter world map of OoT. Also, using maps to find sunken rupee caches, heart pieces, and triforce pieces also wasn’t that great. Most of the game is an improvement, but at least Ocarina never felt like a slog.

Considering most people still playing have probably gravitate towards ranked, the other modes are probably strained for players. I’m sure their mmr concerns are exacerbated by the fact that there aren’t enough players to fill lobbies of people with similar skills.

DVa has always had the most versatility, so the matrix change and armor buff are huge. Those combined with her recent 3s booster cooldown is so much fun to play. Feels like you can be everywhere at once, blowing shit up.
