Aviation uses Knots/Nautical Miles too.

You know what they say about arguing with pilots... Its like wrestling a pig in the mud, sooner or later you realize the pig likes it!
My minor was in aviation weather, you want the granularity with C for weather prediction models especially cloud layers and air mass stability.

Well, looks like you threw the AIM at me, I was just making some generalizations. Granularity was the word I was looking for with the feet for altitude (same reason when converting to celsius for METAR we added the remarks with the decimal point since degrees fahrenheit have more granularity than degrees celsius).

Aviation? Maybe for meteorological reports, but everything else is in feet and nautical miles, worldwide... A foot is more accurate than a meter.

It depends on which tours you get on. You have to get there early to sign up for them, but a buddy and I went over from Columbus and got there early enough to get in on the "Behind the scenes" tour, where they took us all back to the hangars they are restoring the aircraft, saw the YF-23 before they put it out, as

Kayak isn't a travel agency... its only an aggregator... they'll send you off to the airline's website to purchase the actual ticket. It is almost always cheaper to book with the actual airline, which is why Kayak is so popular, they just show what each airline is charging.

Aviation around the world is in Feet and Nautical Miles. Why? Because feet have a greater resolution than Meters. Nautical Miles because they correspond to a second of degree of latitude. When the US was forced to change to Celsius for aviation weather reporting, we added a decimal place in the remarks because

Have you ever been to Iowa? Pretty much windy all the time. I grew up about 10 miles south of where that wind farm is going. There is a reason Iowa keeps trading places with Texas and California for most wind energy, even though those are much bigger states.

VORs are FM (from 108 to 117.95 MHz), the old ADB system that is being phased out was AM.

I broke my keyboard because of that level... I was mashing the keys so hard one of the legs flew off. I now have a staple box holding it up.

Reminded me of the episode of Firefly where they haul the cattle.

I went to it, and they got more aviation facts right than most action movies. It was probably the most accurate aviation movie I've ever seen, and the planes were talking.

I loved both books too. Now that I look at this scene again, it looks like George Lucas ripped it off for the ending scene of Episode I!
