Once again illustrating that the root of the problem is almost always the people up at or near the top — the people who, in truth, have nothing to do with what a company or business is producing or providing, ie the least useful or valuable part of the company or business, ie its most expendable ‘employees.’

As a fan of custom characters over those created by designers, I feel like the industry (and some of its defenders among the playerbase) is in general placing too much weight on how a character’s ethnicity or gender or looks in general can shape the story. In a historical setting that argument may hold water,

“can they all just shut up and get back to work so I can enjoy my video games”

All these CEOs say they’re going to fix things like “diversity, equality, etc.” but it never involves firing the higher level executives involved like themselves. You want to fix the problem? The entire C suite needs to go. You already failed and can’t be trusted.

I’m sorry to hear that the reporting of shitty work conditions ruined your $30 purchase 🙄

But the first part is absolutely wrong in the assumption that pushing people to work harder will result in either a better product or a faster delivery of a certain product.

I mean, at this point I don’t think there are any larger studios that havn’t had this problem, particularly those that started more than 10 years ago. Some baked in bad culture from the time of their formation seems to be part of the nasty trend. And not to say smaller and younger studios are immune to it, but it does

Spend decades arming and training cops to see themselves as an occupying force in constant danger and a few minutes teaching de-escalation and this is what happens. Even well-intentioned new cops will bend after a few years in that wind.

She’s gonna serve some time, because the spotlight is too hot for anything else. And partly because the message to cops that ‘I thought it was a taser’ is not going to cut it.

If American cops had to dress like this again instead of cosplaying soldiers and Robocop, I wager they would attract less trigger-happy assholes to their ranks.

I really don’t get the management, for them the worst thing that could happen is unionization. But in the end they did everything wrong and we could predict way before that this would be the end result. They even suck at their job of just being evil, which makes them useless.

How many fucking times have we heard this excuse when just once is still too many?

Activision/Blizzard may no longer be an innovative game company, its employees are trailblazers still. This bold and forward thinking move shows once again that the real power of an organization is in its people, rather than its C-suite and shareholders.
Here’s to hoping they succesfully unionize!

Your story ended normally and yet, for some reason, I was feeling incredibly stressed like I was reading a horror novel. I thought for sure you’d be murdered by the end, even though I knew that wouldn’t make sense.

It’s like M Nyght Shyamalan tells a story without a plot twist.

Or could’ve gone MORE right! (referring to the semi-porn setup, assuming you thought Carol was attractive).

Just here for more kudos on your storytelling.  I was hooked, with creeping dread ratcheting up with every sentence.  Glad it worked out!  Whew!

“Hanging from the pullup bar was a dead man’s body. I turned around and Carol’s bright red lipstick was now smeared all over her face. “I got a divorce this week,so have to get rid of a few things...”

You sure can tell a story. I started feeling levity (haha, semi-porn setup), to *uh oh* (“[I am a] black man”), to “Curb your Enthusiasm” level impending doom (“a little girl answers”) to actual dread ("it wasn't Carol", "I just walked in") to relief - they were normal people and you were safe. Damn you and here's

Just a friendly reminder that most police stations in the US have “online sales meeting zones” in their parking lots that are under camera surveillance. Obviously it won’t stop a complete lunatic from robbing you, but it should keep you safe from the less psycho, more opportunistic thieves out there. Especially in
