I'm not sure a stock 'Vette will be able to run with the new McLaren, but you can't really expect it to given the price difference. It's still probably the best performance bargain though. 'Vette with $10-20k invested can run past just about anything.
This is precisely the reasoning behind it. Much of the hard work has already been done.
The difference is, you can't typically drive those other cars home. I'm not sure what the exact rules are, but the event is broken into classes similar to the way other racing events are divided.
I'm American. Our driver's education doesn't cover physics as much as it should.
Essentially, a basic comprehension of physics.
One thing every [American] driver needs to know? That they're operating an incredibly large and heavy projectile at high rates of speed, with only 4 small pieces of rubber keeping the whole package going in the right direction.
