Maybe this makes sense to people from NYC?

It seems somewhat reasonable given the power/weight. But it is a bit odd to be sporting a 4-cyl engine at that price point. Some people might be swayed away on principal alone. Then again people were lined up to spend $450k on a Truck V6 in a supercar.

Don’t put words in my mouth. I didn’t say a manual is the “only” way to have fun, but it is the way to have the most fun. Karting is fun, although less so because you are usually stuck on track with people who don’t bother to check their rear corners before cutting you off.
But carting doesn’t hold a candle to

I am aware DCT’s are better and more funthan torque converter auto’s but they are still an automatic.

Still an automatic. Those little paddle things are just so you can pretend you are involved...
But you still aren’t doing the clutch work or the shift work, and it won’t let you shift into a gear that it too low. No skill involved in driving an automatic, and far less connection.

ok kid who can’t drive...

I didn’t say only, but it’s a big factor. Why would a company make a car that is all about driving and connection, and then leave 40% of the experience off the table?

While I wouldn’t say an auto sports car isn’t fun, it’s certainly a lot less fun...in my mind the manual equates to around 40% of the action/enjoyment.
So in the end I’d rather be driving a much slower manual car than a fast automatic, especially in the corners.

Taiam?
User name checks out.

To me an auto-only sports car is a farse. Sure I get that it needs an auto option some people. But a sports car should be about enjoyment and connection with the car.
Defenders often crop up with the notion that the auto “shifts faster”, but if drag racing or lap times is what you are concerned about, then there are

Oddly I think the 4C is one of the least worthy sports cars to give a shit about for one glaring reason: It’s automatic only.

The Alpine A110 for two reasons.
1) Another automatic only sports car
2) (Likely) wont be coming to America

Wow you are daft. By not buying the car they intend to ruin for themselves they are screwing over a small business, and also screwing over the insurance company. This is the very definition of greed.

The key here is buy, not rent.
And I know a former engineer at GM who participated in the same thing.
The benchmarking is common practice, doing so on a rented vehicle is not.

Or if you want a performance car that you know hasn’t been abused by someone who may not know what they are doing.

The fact is we need people to buy new cars, or there will be no used cars to buy.

FWD (or AWD) cars are a lot more likely to have issues with a money shift as they lean onto the drive wheels and add traction to them, where a RWD car leans off them and allows for more slippage.

I suppose not, but a supercharged FR-S certainly shouldn’t be your sole transportation anyway if you have family relying on you. So get a reliable DD and get the 2-seater for fun!

That is basically what I meant. I suppose I could have been more specific. They are investing more in clean energy and environmental protection than the US is.

“Communism and socialism are also a false equivalent.”
I never implied otherwise...

My SR20DET sounds great, and goes pretty good, but it’s never been what I would call reliable.
