The ZL1 (which is what I meant, not the SS) is bar none the most capable car you can buy shy of probably $150k (unless you include the Z06, which is marginally faster, but not as well balanced, or the Viper ACR which isn’t produced anymore).

Drive a modern Camaro, Miata, or Porsche and they are as good or better in every way than their 90's brethren, and because of all that heavy tech they are safer and more luxurious too.

It kind of depends on your perspective. Straight line they aren’t really fast...14.9 @ 95 is about the best they can do stock. Still that’s pretty much the fastest new car you can buy for $22k.
And on a windy backroad there is very little that can get away from it. Trust me, I’ve seen people try.
