Here's the thing. Some of these questions, while blunt, are actually real time-savers in this kind of interaction. I am never offended by someone saying: this is the thing I want. Do you also want this thing? Even if that thing is casual sex. I find that perfectly appropriate in these settings.

It's not how it works in the same way that, for example, gravity is just the way it works. It's a set of decisions made by doctors. Bad decisions, I would argue. I would say that doctors do not have the right or obligation to protect me from myself in this way.
