Exactly! I feel like this gets back to the actual definition of feminism, that women are people, not shiny fembots who need to examine their painted extremities in reflective surfaces to validate their existence.

Shockingly fine.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your mom. I agree totally that this story is just too clean and neat. Cancer is many things, and clean/neat are essentially never among those.

Perhaps I'm being naive, but I really thought the close up black and white shot took Mindy from her commonly perceived "cuteness" (ugh I hate that term for not-runway-model women) and catapulted her into smoking hotness. WHERE SHE BELONGS.

I'm really worried about how dangerous some of the event platforms seem to be also - already several athletes have been injured or are pulling out because of the course. People who have trained that long are going to push themselves to the limit and it could end badly :/

I'm so sorry for the loss of your parents. Pancreatic cancer is truly a terrible and terrifying disease. I hope that your health continues to be good! I definitely get where you're coming from and I agree that the attempt to distill this huge, horrible situation into a catchy ad is the root of the problem.

I agree with you totally! I just meant that we shouldn't describe breast cancer as a "good" cancer since it seriously wounds and kills a lot of young people. Pancreatic cancer is truly terrible but nobody wins when we pit cancer patients against each other. I'm so sorry for the loss of your friend.

I am truly sorry for your loss of your dad, both what you went through then and the loss you live with now. I didn't mean in any way to take away from the pain of losing someone to pancreatic cancer or how horrible the disease is, I just wanted to point out that calling breast cancer a "good" cancer doesn't help.

Perhaps you missed the fact that many young women with breast cancer die. How fortunate for you that you can miss that.

I have had breast cancer twice, the first time at 29. When I should have been planning a wedding, I was planning a mastectomy which left me with a jagged scar and too little skin for reconstruction (that's what happens when your tumor is that big). I have had body parts cut off, been poisoned by chemotherapy, burned

Growing up in Maine we had Mark's Topless Donut Shop. Similar... I guess? Round things go together? Never went, afraid of all the stickiness. Blech.

So beauty. Such mens. Must taste. Wow.

From whence did you obtain these delicious men creatures??

I was in NYC over the weekend for a birthday and popped into a CVS on Broadway near Union Square to buy a gift bag - also found a fairly large beer and cheap wine selection. Who knew?!?

"At first I thought this was only something that Brown kids went through, like having a five o'clock shadow around your eyebrows every two days. "

As a person who makes my cheese off smokers (work involves chest radiology), I believe beyond any doubt that the single biggest thing we can do for public health is get rid of smoking. The links between particular foods or body sizes and health are fuzzy and sometimes paradoxical but smoking hurts everyone who does it
