Here's the way I think of it.

I'd rather kick them with these:

"The flyer in question was posted by one of our promoters for a SPECIFIC event; scheduled on a Saturday night—after dinner hours. We should have caught the questionable wording and corrected it."

I agree that words can take on multiple and multifaceted meanings. HOWEVER, the word "rape" has an incredible amount of stigma attached to it, that words like "killing" just don't. Moreover, I feel like the word rape is never disassociated from its 'normal' meaning. If anything, commentary like this (tweet) exploits

Yeah it took me a minute to figure it out!

I'm not sure it's victim blaming so much as it is trivialising the notion of rape.

I hate these kinds of situations - I seem to have been elected the office spokesperson, so I get yelled at quite a bit. That said, I have found that the best way to handle my combative and easily angered boss is to let him have his say first. Mostly, this consists of him venting, and me sympathizing with his difficult

Why thank you!

There has been a case similar to this in California - Moore v Regents of the University of California. If my memory serves me correctly, the Supreme Court held that the "property" was in the human ingenuity it took to isolate the cell line and develop the products from it, rather than the person from whom they

"That seems like a rather cute way of tip-toeing around the elephant in the room, which is that post conception, men are beholden to a fetus while women are not."

Yeah I have a problem with someone (especially the parent) diminishing this to a case of "unacceptable language". Surely the real issue hear is the fact that he even THINKS like this...or am I overestimating his ability to be decent human being?

I know! I find it mind boggling that they think they can divorce such a pervasive and intrusive "social" issue from their economic policies.

I find it so interesting that this issue has come to characterise the GOP to the point that it's jarring to read anyone* in the party could be anything other than staunchly anti-abortion.

His career might go up in smoke because of this

You said that your dermatologist does not think Accutane appropriate, but have you considered topical treatments such as an adapalene cream?

I didn't see that article, so I'm not sure if it was about this, but:

I'm curious. If you take Jim Norton's stance, where do you draw the line in terms of defining "comedian"? Or are controversial jokes by anyone acceptable?

The article also has a "racism" tag...

I also find the division between the 'kids' studying and the 'adults' supervising them troubling, and somewhat at cross purposes the point of the article. College students are adults who should be held accountable for their actions.

I find them strangely lecherous...
