So why not just rent a truck?

The small truck segment confuses me because if you don’t need a truck 50%+ of the time you’re better off with a fuel efficient/fun hatchback and a $1200 utility trailer or renting a truck when you need to move something bulky/heavy.

Because it’s cheap, you can get a nice GC 160 Honda for $50-$80 on CL almost any day. To build a similar electric bike set up you need $500+ in batteries, controllers and motors. It’s very tough to find those bits used.

I work with a EE who builds very high quality, high output electric mopeds but they still cost

I’ve been woken up 100 times from mopeds screaming by my house. Open exhaust on a car is fine, it’s generally a lower tone. Short of GP style pipes on motorcycles it’s not a big issue because they’re at such low load cruising down the street it’s not very loud. A moped on the other hand is as loud as it can be at WOT

Just get off your fat ass and ride a bike. Do you live in an area with mopeds? They’re super annoying especially once you put an aftermarket exhaust on them to get a few extra MPH.

When you’re buying a 70k vehicle why does economy even matter? It’s a very cool truck but in all honesty you’re taking a 20k value hit in the first year or so. That’s what I’d be worrying about, not if I’m going to spend another ~$900 in fuel this year (15k annual miles at 28 vs 18 mpg at $3 a gallon).

You’re missing the whole point. The system helps you maneuver the trailer, not determine where the trailer needs to go. It in no way makes backing up a trailer any harder than it is already.

Now having an quick attach camera system for the rear of the trailer that integrates with the Ford system is a great idea.

I’ve owned 2 of these and about 8 other TDIs of this generation (AHU/1Z/ALH) You have to hyper mile the hell out of an B4V Passat Wagon to get 50 mpg. You can do it, the wagons are more aerodynamic than the Jetta or Golfs with the same engine. You need new injectors, slightly advanced timing and good fuel.

Yay, sharia law. Tell me more about how you disagree while the whole foundation of the US legal system.

That’s the driver, not the car. That same A hole driver is going to do the same thing in a Camry or a Yaris. Being a Prius has absolutely zero to do with it.

I think this system is way smarter than you give it credit. You need to measure your individual trailer and place a sticker on it (I’m assuming so the truck can calibrate for the trailer) if you’ve got a 30 foot horse trailer the required steering input is different than a short utility trailer. The system should know

How do you walk your 4x7 when you’ve got 1,000 lbs of gravel in it over soft ground?

I want to see you back up a 6x8 foot utility trailer the overall length of a shoe. It’s the short trailers that are so so difficult.

It looks like a stick on body kit. Why are they trying so hard to draw my eye to the base of the emblem?

Yeah, who wants light weight performance with reasonable fuel economy? Give me some ancient technology plz.

See-Bring me a bucket.

Pope mobile!

Bear ware?

I see a beefy Chrysler.

It was supposed to be Le Mains, that way you know what you’re supposed to push it with.

Almost as if this is a paradox.
