People don’t watch original movies anymore. Everybody needs a saga to fill the seats. Books with a solid fan base seem like a good way to go to push new movies. It seems too hard to gather hype for new projects. Indie films seem like the way to go for truly original content.

I’m not super devastated about this, but I do hope the failure of Tomorrowland doesn’t become another drop in the “audiences don’t really want original movies” bucket.
