I am not a dog expert but I have taken in a lot of strays (dogs and cats) in my life. I have never heard of this 5 minute rule thing...I have actually had a lot of pets that didn't just feel "meh" about me, but actively hated me when I first kidnapped them from the streets. Like I said, I'm not an expert but I don't

Congratulations! That is wonderful and exciting news!!

So I have been obsessed with True Detective (can't wait for tomorrow night!!) and it got me thinking about unsolved mysteries. I love reading about the unexplained.

Oh no I agree with you on that. Social workers are people, just like everyone else. Even the children's services workers: some of them are just there for the paycheck,. A job is a job and all that.

This one is tricky for me to answer...I think you are absolutely right that in this situation it may be possible to ascertain the information you need from the child HOWEVER: I really, really, really don't like to encourage people to intervene on their own. You just don't know what could happen, what if the parent

Yeah definitely call and make the report. I feel like child protection social workers are given such a bad name...you calling in to make the report does not mean that the children will automatically be shipped off to foster homes. I think there is this public image of social workers just sitting around waiting to rip

No I'm sorry I didn't mean to give the impression that you needed to notify the person that you had contacted the authorities and force them to stay. In this case where it happened on the bus I would say the best course of action is to call the police as well as to notify the driver, there may be a way for the police

And I totally understand it, I mean it is an uncomfortable position to be in...plus people don't want to believe that what they are seeing could be a symptom of something even worse. During my first year interning as a social worker I had a professor that warned us that it was going to be very hard to file our first

Thanks Mark!

Social worker PSA:

I don't blame you. There are some things you can know are awful without actually having to suffer through them.

Have you ever actually tried balut? I grew up with a lot of Filipino friends so their parents always had balut at any party (birthdays, graduations). My friends swear that it just tastes like chicken and eggs...but the smell is like DEATH. It is so terrible. I never had the nerve to try it, and I'm a vegetarian now so

I know I should listen whenever someone posts warnings like this...but my brain always takes it as a challenge. So thank you, that was just as disturbing as I thought it would be!

I'm an actual, real mexican person and I totally put guac on my burritos when I feel like it. Sometimes I even put it on english muffins and have it for breakfast. It is the tits, you should live a little (forget your guacamole rules! Throw them away! Be free!) and try it.

LOL this is making me laugh cause I'm mexican and I say guac. I'm just lazy I guess!

Thank you I feel so validated right now. Yes, the problem is the lack of chunkiness and heat. I mean I get that a lot of people don't want their food too spicy, but the current guac has no spice at all.

I know I'm being "that guy" but their guacamole isn't all that good. I mean, it is better than the sour cream with green food coloring that some places try to pass off as guacamole...but it still just kinda blah.

My cousin named her daughter Maisie, not short for anything, that's her given name...and I actually know a few Dannys that are not Daniels. I think you should just do you! Go with whatever names you like, it doesn't matter if it is supposed to be a nickname for another name. :)

Complaining about "phonies"...Holden is that you?

I'm sorry that happened to you, that is really big disappointment. Definitely be honest with your friends when they get in touch. Let them know what happened and that it hurt you, even though you understand they had valid reasons for cancelling. I hope your friends are able to make it up to you.
