I’m not an expert, but from brief searching it looks like abortion is an issue where Islam is significantly better than Catholicism, only adopting the Catholic level of opposition when the pregnancy is later than 4 months.

As an American Muslim (secular since I no longer practice), Islam doesn’t forbid abortions.
