Who wore it better?
Who wore it better?
No joke, I think Merkel of Germany is now the leader of the free world. I don’t think we get to use that phrase with Trump, who seems to align with dictators, not the West, or our traditional political/economic allies.
Convenient that the US is one of two countries that has failed to sign the United Nations Convention on Rights of the Child, which specifies in Article 28 that States Parties recognize the right of the child to education.
I keep hearing this and yet anyone that has taken a high school or even junior high level economics class should have known that Trump’s promise to bring the jobs back was bullshit at best.
It doesn’t look like most people were demanding an apology. It’s criticism. Welcome to comedy.
Guess what certain types of right wing Jewish people and White Nationalists have in common? (hint: they both think Islamophobia isn’t real)
Well, that’s one conflict of interest removed for the President-Elect.
do you mean shtick?
Because religion is a huge driving influence in the abortion debate.
I don’t think that’s true, actually. I’m pretty sure Wiccans and Unitarian Universalists are unambiguously pro-choice. And I know there are more religions that are unambiguously fine with homosexuality.
I’m not saying that affects our ability to change Catholicism, but let’s give credit where it’s due to religions…
You say that as if most Catholic hospitals are charitable organizations. They are not. They’re money-makers, some of them even file as for-profit institutions, which is why their stake in the US healthcare is on the rise. Also, secular institution do raise money, and public hospitals provide more charitable health…
Yeah, now it’s only the equivalent of rape and murder.
I’m not an expert, but from brief searching it looks like abortion is an issue where Islam is significantly better than Catholicism, only adopting the Catholic level of opposition when the pregnancy is later than 4 months.
As an American Muslim (secular since I no longer practice), Islam doesn’t forbid abortions. That doesn’t mean it’s completely allowed, there’s a lot of argument about it between different schools of thought. It’s also a little difficult to figure what “Islam” allows since the muslim world doesn’t have a centralized…
A stance that will never change as it hasn’t for any other religion in the world.
It does have something to do with me, since every hospital in a 50 mile radius is Catholic-owned, and since I’m at a higher risk for a chancy pregnancy....the Catholic Church’s policies, unfortunately, can affect me in a very life-or-death sense.
Yep, don’t care what anyone says. The church can fuck off on anything, as if they can claim any moral high ground when the vatican is still, yes STILL to this day, protecting pedophile priests and doing all possible to protect their financial interests, abused children be damned. You don’t get to say you care about…
Nah, the catholic church and it’s practices and policies directly affect many non-catholics as well. Non-catholics are in a tough spot when the Church buys their local hospital. E.g., if a woman is having a c-section, that’s a pretty handy time to go ahead and have your tubal ligation done, if that’s something you…
Except you can’t ignore it, because these teachings extend to our public life - see the VP-elect of the US.
How is “you are committing a grave sin that you must seek forgiveness for” the same as saying it’s okay?
