Pretty sure "plateaus" is correct too.

@Scott D. Feldstein: Thanks for your encouraging words. I bit the bullet and I'm renting the 70-200. (I got a "raise" for the summer, so this is sort of my treat to me because, well, I've heard great things and it sounds like a lot of fun.) But damn... that 17-55 f/2.8 IS USM is tempting, if not the 24-70 f/2.8L

@kilodelta6: Well, there still is the reception... But I can get closer for those? I probably won't be shooting across a room? I've gone out with my brother's (old and utter crap) 70-300 that has issues with light leaks as far as I can tell. (It was a graduation.) Anything beyond 200 mm was useless.

@DayallAxededed: Ah... you sound like an older film photographer? My T2i is nice, it won't let me take photos that exceed the x-sync speed. I've tried. It was actually really annoying until I figured out why I couldn't decrease the exposure time.

I read a story about a guy who pointed his camera at the sun and went to do something else. He came back to find his camera literally smoking. It's like taking one of the world's best and most expensive magnifying glasses (your lens) and focusing the sun onto your sensor for a period of time. Brief enough - not a

@Mickets: Dude, I know, I'm pretty worried, but I have no way of practicing... And there's another more unofficial photographer who may be better than me, which might make this awkward. He sorta said, "Oh, you're getting married, I'm taking photos!" Completely after they asked me, but he's a relative and they can't

Wow... That's the stuff I want to rent, exactly. Well, I'd get the 70-200 IS USM, but close enough. I just can't afford the $400 it'd cost me. I'm planning on getting a second card. (30 MB/s write, or Eye-Fi X2?) Maybe... maybe I could just rent the 70-200... I know I can't afford the 5D, and I'd have to learn

Well... I can't afford to rent other stuff, I'm just a grad student. The trip alone is costing enough.

You'll damage your eyesight first if you're not careful. Don't look through the view-finder! Don't set your camera to be able to see the image on the camera screen. Those are the best ways to hurt something.

Canon T2i: Would you rather have a SanDisk 16 GB 30 MB/s write card or the 8 GB Eye-Fi X2 Pro? I need a backup SD card, so I'm thinking of getting one to use with my 16 GB Class 6 card..

I'm going to be an official wedding photographer for the first time. I've stocked up on the gear I (think) I need, and I've been practicing for a couple of months to get comfortable with the new stuff (really just the flash, I already had the other stuff). What are your best tips? Am I

Probably a combo of both. Particularly when new Ubuntu releases happen, servers can get bogged down while the number of torrenters goes up. Sometimes it's just annoying to try to find a server that doesn't have horrible transfer speed, so I just go to the torrents because I know the speed there will usually be at

My sanity. Even though I've misplaced it a few times. And my boss seems like he's always out to take it away from me.

Ubuntu for one.

My high school chem teacher had an ancient drive about 10 years old that still ran. We were terrified to even breathe on the thing lest we make it crash, but we got his data off of it and told him to buy a new one.

I know it's there in bayXSonic's link, but I like Divvy way better. I have it set up with a bunch of hotkeys.

This has happened to me a few times, but exclusively in sports. I don't think it translates to anything on a timescale of more than a second or two, because that's when it all happens. At my peak in volleyball, I was doing it fairly consistently.

Mmmmm... I have a 2005 Camry that doesn't have a coded key... I don't know if that's "modern" enough for you guys. I'm sure that can be a problem for some cars. I just can't afford them!

Good call. Totally forgot about those caveats. Classic service is now $54, 5 free tow miles to anywhere, but completely free to nearest AAA Approved Auto Repair facility or to the tow truck's home garage. 4 tows a year. I can't find the waiting period before your membership activates, but it used to be a few days,
