Yeah, but is is generic from a video game perspective. I like the idea of not having a single canon protagonist due to the idea that it should be up to whoever is playing. Compared to a game like Mass Effect, you'll never really have the same play style as the others around you.

I would recommend playing through it on PC, it's a bit too fast for consoles. GZDoom is probably the best source port for it's higher resolutions and stuff, but if you want to play it the way it would be played in the 90's Chocolate Doom is better.

I mean, on the cover and stuff they always use the most generic character they could of possibly made up. I mean, I wish they would of just made an ambiguous character.

If a game is available commercially, but none of the original developers will make a profit, and it really won't go towards anything too exciting, then I have no problem with emulation. Same if the only people profiting are colossal corporations.

Mega Man X, which is the closest thing to the original series hasn't had a new main game since the Playstation 2, and they, along with the Playstation 1 games, aren't regarded as being excellent.

That's mostly because of spinoff's and spinoff's of spinoff's. The sort of Mega Man game Keiji is making hasn't had a "modern" sequel since the Playstation 1.
