I’m not disagreeing with you that the movie itself has a lot of issues, just that the casting of a white actress to play Kusanagi is not an issue. The entire theme of GitS is that The Major’s background is a mystery, and that her physical form is fluid.

Pretty much. It’s ignorant to think all manga characters have to be Japanese just because of a name.

It’s not the character’s real name, and she often swaps bodies (including male, children, blonde, etc.). People outraged at the casting clearly only have a cursory understanding of the Ghost in the Shell universe. Motoko Kusanagi is not really Motoko Kusanagi. Even her childhood body was a shell.

The difference being this time they pissed off someone that’s not a group of cabbies needing the settlement money or government agencies that are too slow/indifferent to react.

That’s actually Taiwan, since it’s traditional Chinese. Another difference is tags in China have a character on the left denoting district, while license plates in Hong Kong are a horrendous yellow.

On a side note, this is pretty normal for Taiwan. The surprising thing is how quickly you get used to it. I was kicking off the sides of buses after a week or so.

Every store clerk should aspire to be this store clerk. Purse-snatcher crashes into wall? She’ll nonchalantly finish pumping your gas for you.

Man, I love Serious Eats. Kenji Lopez-Alt is awesome. Their chicharon recipe is also a godsend.

Welcome, fellow-Postal-hater.

How have I never heard/seen/thought of PedanticsAreTheBestAntics? That’s glorious in all the right ways.

Action RPG starring Destiny, the stripper?

Sultan McDoom needs to win everything.

I want to give you a star, but also want to keep the count at the number of the Beast. Here’s a Morning Star to you instead.

My loin is hot with excitement for the inevitable Monster Factory episode.

Kali ma, bro. Kali ma.

What in the dick is that shenanigans?

I’m not sure about Indiana, but in Florida and Georgia signaling for lane change and signaling for turns are covered under different statutes. Also, I believe that feature is called “tap to pass” for some manufacturers.

I thought that feature is solely for lane changes, and a hard click for turns.

Maybe the true reason was because Bryant appeared in a vertical potato photo.
