626 had no driving dynamics. Tepid is as tepid does. Refinement is subjective, but Regal offered a quieter ride with efficiency within 1-2MPG at worst V6 to V6 and far superior build quality.

They also felt solid, especially the Regal. The 626? Not so much.

Meanwhile, GP/Regal were making 200-240hp and ~235-280lb-ft of torque since ‘97.
