Somehow I doubt that this would really have been the case in the long run. We’ve seen these issues in other parts of the industry, and they’ve stayed for a long time and weathered every storm directed at them one way or another.
Also, this is a larger issue in the US, but not so much elsewhere in the world - or at

also, don’t forget that a lot of scores from “professional” outlets are still bought with advertising money or access to future titles of the same publisher.
If they want a game to get a good score, it WILL get a good score, at least if there’s a company with enough cash behind it.

But genereally speaking: Metacritic,

I’ve worked in the games industry in a company with several hundred employees. I know the conditions a lot of them worked under, and we are talking about a country where workers are basically well protected by law. Still they were being abused - less so at our company, very much so at a different one (which crashed

heh, I actually HAVE a switch. Basically, I owned or still own every major console since the VCS2600, except the NeoGeo (was always too expensive, although I drooled over the games forever and played lots of them in the arcades).
And yes, I think that there are lots of games on that system that are just fun to play,

Remember that there was the Lian Li XB-01 case for the original Xbox too, that was also a non-loved design (though it had lots os small design cues that went over everybodys head, p.ex. the green sheen to the black plastic. Which most people only saw when trying to paint it and it leaked out into their color ^^ ).

There

Why have games fallen into the same cliche that movies have fallen into since the 2000s came along? Why does everything have to be bleak, bleached out, no-future-no-hope pseudo-realistic grim crap?
They could offer glimpses of hope even in a game like this. Show that singular persons might still be morally above the

^^ I cannot count the hours sunk into Forza Horizon 3 and 4.
Recently went and looked at my old Xbox (first generation) and was really amazed that it also had its share of really fun games, some of which I would really like to play again sometimes. I hope they keep the disc drive, if only to “scan” your old discs, see

Absolutely with you. Got a PS4 just for Horizon: Zero Dawn, and the game is well worth it, but I waited until the price went down since there were not that many other interesting games on the system for me (don’t like Spider-Man as a game, like the comics, but that’s it).
Maybe Horizon 2 will someday be on PC too

Correct, both consoles internal drives will be fixed, but additional drives can be added.
In both cases as far as I know via PCIExpress, though the Xbox Series X could also use USB3.1 which would give them peak performance on par with their internal drive plus the bonus of easy plug&play.
Sony went as far as I know for

well, current Call Of Duty releases are breaking the 100GB barrier with their campaign addons. Similar numbers for all huge shooters, Destiny 2 has also passed the 90GB barrier.
Considering that you can only upgrade the PS5 with a NVME SSD of similar speed, so that programmers have a target to create their games for,

In Germany the situation is even weirder. Apart from having to have a tv/radio broadcasting license (as soon as you have anything that resembles a fixed schedule and create content that is moderaded in any way) there is the GEMA here which requires you to pay a fee for every copyrighted song broadcasted to an audience.

ah, that guy ^^
I actually liked his idea with Battlecruiser 3000AD. Shame he never made a fun and less bug-ridden game out of it. But the basic premise was, for the time when the first iteration came out, intriguing to say the least.

I paid less than 50$ way back then for SC + SQ42. So, nope, bad try at trolling, Elite-Fanboy ^^

The alpha version of SC, that is playable, does exist right now. You can play it. There are several weeks each year where you can even try it for free.

lolwhat?
I put more money in E:D than in SC, since I backed at an early stage. Sorry, but you are jumping to the wrong conclusions ^^

I enjoy the free fly weeks when some ships are available for everybody, but I do not need all of them right here, right now. I want to progress with my character like I did in the early

And if it stays one, I can say that I had more fun with its Alpha iterations than I had through all of E:D up until now ^^
But that’s personal preference. And no, I didn’t invest deep into SC - was never necessary. Got a package for both parts (SQ42 and SC) early on, that’s it.

The Alphas that are actually playable from SC are a thing that is not available in any other software of its kind. You are basically watching the game unfold in small increments in a way you wouldn’t be able to if they did things “the normal way”.
As for the timeframe of SC: The scope is larger, they didn’t start out

in what regard?
Nothing of actual gameplay was seen in this trailer.
SC still reigns not only in the graphics department, but also movement, procedural generation of planet surfaces, athmosphere, weather effects etc..
The environment is more believable if you will than Elite. It lends itself more towards roleplay like

What I hated most about B1 was (in the original version) the always returning splicers. I wanted to be able to “clear” areas of enemies to look at the setting, imagine how people lived there, soak in the environment.
But that didn’t work because of the *bleeping* constantly respawning splicers.
Hate them to this day.
Infi

nope, not really. Just checked, only 12 NA and NB available in our country with less than 50.000km on the odo, and only one of them with a legit number under 10.000km. And it wasn’t a 1.8, but a 1.6 (although a special edition).
They are being driven, and destroyed. And as I said, they rust horribly.
