It wasn’t that he called them out on the issue. It was the two months of design meetings following.
...Other than overall proportions and general similarity in profile. Why else, pray tell, do you think they were popular?
And why do these exist?
Sorcerers, man
I disagree. I didn’t see anything “Bentley” in the Continental concept. I think he was a bit sour that they made a design he would have “liked” to have at Bentley.
The lines that people are complaining about are common for every full size, rear drive car around. Nothing unique to Bentley.
I bet they tried to get him to design a high-riding sedan with enormous wheels to appeal to American rap stars, and he kept refusing, so they gave him an ultimatum: Donk or walk.
I’m sorry, but it’s no more a ripoff of the Bentley than it is of the 300C or S Class. There are only so many shapes a car can have, and the number of shapes continues to decline as there are more and more common factors (safety regulations, importance of fuel economy, etc.) Meanwhile, the if you actually look at the…
Sorry, I just don’t see it to be such a blatant rip-off of Bentley ... a company with pretty much zero unique design history. Certainly comparing Lincoln’s design of the this car with what Chinese car companies do is gross exaggeration, at best.
Second era of malaise? Apparently you weren’t around for the first.
Boy, what did he think about the 300?
A blatant rip off? I don’t agree. There are a few similarities, but I think you are (and he was) overstating it.
Indestructible and far better than most of the Eastern European/Soviet cars that I have been in. Niva FTW!!
The seats, yes. I’ll check the mounts anyways and thrash it a bit anyways to make sure. I’m only intending it for street use anyways.
Would you really want racing harnesses made by these clowns?
It will really suck for the employees but if they do go under, I’m going to the liquidation sale. See if I can get myself some cheap racing harnesses. Also a racing seat.
Very solid second to the Lada Niva.
The Beetle was Fascist, not Communist.
