I’m curious if there are certain areas that have a higher incidence of road rage towards bikers or are culturally less accepting than other regions. I ride all year round in Colorado and have for many years. All I get are thumbs up and little kids rolling down their windows asking me to rev it up at lights.

Scrambler Du-kitty?

Really? That’s the best design they could muster?

This article doesn’t surprise me in the least. Dirtbiking, mtnbiking and hiking around CO there is plenty of open range and I have been charged by cows multiple times. One headbutted me right in the boot and pushed my foot through the transmission case on my dirtbike. Even with steel shanks in the boot for protection

Never had the privilege of owning either but I did get to spend a fair bit of seat time in the first gen with both the 8 and 10 cylinder. I liked the 8 better for two reasons:

Thanks for the write up! You’ve given me a couple new options to look into. My primary helmets are an Arai XD4 (Which I like with and without the visor, it looks a bit odd without it perhaps but it is the most comfortable helmet I have ever worn and I don’t always want the beak). And the BELL Moto9. I use this as my

The evolution of LaneSplitter has been exciting to witness and I can’t wait to see what the future brings, it has already become one of my favorite pages on the interwebs.

Weight would be a non-issue. But at 6’6” the ergos would very likely be a problem and require some tweaking. I’m 6’1” and it feels like its as small as it could possibly be and still be comfortable for me. The bikes are tiny little toy things in person.

Andrew, in terms of skidplate I would focus on side coverage for your oil filter housing, waterpump, crank case and clutch cover. I haven’t seen anyone pop a hole through the bottom of the motor (Not that this doesn’t happen but the case is fairly thick) but I have seen many tip overs result in damage to the side of

I have two plated CRFs, a dualsported 250X and a sumo’d 450X. I agree 100% on riding inappropriate machinery. So much fun riding around town on those bikes... except for the heat. Neither of them love sitting in traffic for extended periods of time.

That is a great light, I just installed one on my dual sported CRF250X. I was running the Trail Tech X2 for a while and that thing is absolute utter garbage. The 8” race light is badass and looks cool!

Thanks! I like the large tank but the two extra petcocks and associated hoses make removing the tank a 10 minute job instead 2. Otherwise no complaints, it seems very tough and being able to see my fuel level is convenient. I also have one of the side petcocks setup with a quick disconnect and extra hose so I can

Excellent choice! I am a huge fan of minimalist dual sport machines myself. I have owned and still own some beasts but the bike I won’t part with and put the most miles on is my dual-sported 08 Honda CRF250X.

I would replace the Currie tire deflator with a set of Staun tire deflators. Pre-set the PSI you want and you can walk away while you air down all 4 at once. Airing down one tire at a time can take an eternity with TPMS equipped wheels, the air trickles out even when you pull the valve stem.

For the dual-sport riders check out Butler Maps Backcountry Discovery Route maps. They sell maps, GPS tracks and they have even made a few videos of riding the routes that you can rent on Amazon video. Great stuff.

Dammit jalop! Duped into looking at porn at work again! Now I have to awkwardly step away whilst trying to conceal my erection...

A few years ago I visited my parents and they wanted to go for a ride. I didn’t have a bike with me so off to the local Harley shop I went and rented a Street Bob for the Day. It had terrible suspension, terrible brakes, terrible overall dynamics but the motor was a total sweetheart and I had more fun railing that

I can’t wait to see the wheels from the top photo in person. They don’t look like much in photos but the wheels on the current Diavel are rather stunning in person and these look like they will be even more impressive.

I’m just not sure who this is for. If it’s your first bike you should probably buy some beater off craigslist you can flip in 6months for about the same price you originally paid because you will very likely drop it at least once. For an even moderately experienced rider that’s a lot of performance to give up for

I nearly gave up off-road riding because the bike I tried to learn on was way too heavy. Wised up, bought a proper dirt bike and honed my skills. Now I get a perverse joy out of taking the heaviest bikes I can find into inappropriate places. I wouldn’t want to do a RTW trip on a bike this size, but spending an
