The evolution of LaneSplitter has been exciting to witness and I can’t wait to see what the future brings, it has already become one of my favorite pages on the interwebs.

Weight would be a non-issue. But at 6’6” the ergos would very likely be a problem and require some tweaking. I’m 6’1” and it feels like its as small as it could possibly be and still be comfortable for me. The bikes are tiny little toy things in person.
Andrew, in terms of skidplate I would focus on side coverage for your oil filter housing, waterpump, crank case and clutch cover. I haven’t seen anyone pop a hole through the bottom of the motor (Not that this doesn’t happen but the case is fairly thick) but I have seen many tip overs result in damage to the side of…
I have two plated CRFs, a dualsported 250X and a sumo’d 450X. I agree 100% on riding inappropriate machinery. So much fun riding around town on those bikes... except for the heat. Neither of them love sitting in traffic for extended periods of time.
That is a great light, I just installed one on my dual sported CRF250X. I was running the Trail Tech X2 for a while and that thing is absolute utter garbage. The 8” race light is badass and looks cool!
Thanks! I like the large tank but the two extra petcocks and associated hoses make removing the tank a 10 minute job instead 2. Otherwise no complaints, it seems very tough and being able to see my fuel level is convenient. I also have one of the side petcocks setup with a quick disconnect and extra hose so I can…
I would replace the Currie tire deflator with a set of Staun tire deflators. Pre-set the PSI you want and you can walk away while you air down all 4 at once. Airing down one tire at a time can take an eternity with TPMS equipped wheels, the air trickles out even when you pull the valve stem.
For the dual-sport riders check out Butler Maps Backcountry Discovery Route maps. They sell maps, GPS tracks and they have even made a few videos of riding the routes that you can rent on Amazon video. Great stuff.
Dammit jalop! Duped into looking at porn at work again! Now I have to awkwardly step away whilst trying to conceal my erection...
A few years ago I visited my parents and they wanted to go for a ride. I didn’t have a bike with me so off to the local Harley shop I went and rented a Street Bob for the Day. It had terrible suspension, terrible brakes, terrible overall dynamics but the motor was a total sweetheart and I had more fun railing that…
I can’t wait to see the wheels from the top photo in person. They don’t look like much in photos but the wheels on the current Diavel are rather stunning in person and these look like they will be even more impressive.
I’m just not sure who this is for. If it’s your first bike you should probably buy some beater off craigslist you can flip in 6months for about the same price you originally paid because you will very likely drop it at least once. For an even moderately experienced rider that’s a lot of performance to give up for…
I nearly gave up off-road riding because the bike I tried to learn on was way too heavy. Wised up, bought a proper dirt bike and honed my skills. Now I get a perverse joy out of taking the heaviest bikes I can find into inappropriate places. I wouldn’t want to do a RTW trip on a bike this size, but spending an…
Interesting wheel design. The lip is huge, they stick out much farther than the rim protector of the tire. Can anyone enlighten me, is this to accommodate wider street rubber?
As a lover of retro/mod styled motorcycles and huge fan of triples I am pretty damn excited for this machine. I think the FZ-09 is one of the best bikes I have swung a leg over recently but I don’t love the looks. This bike is just win all around for me.
Definitely much more cruiser oriented placement of the forward controls on this version of the Diavel. The previous version is more my cup of tea but I do think this is an attractive bike and if I were in the cruiser market this would be exponentially more appealing to me than a Harley, Star, Indian, etc.
A bit ironic isn’t it? Keep in mind we’re talking about puttering down an alleyway at 5-10MPH in first gear and trying to maintain a constant speed. Think “seeking a parking spot” not adventure. Off-road or higher speed I don’t find it to be an issue. If I see rough road or a pothole ahead at speed I whack the…
Clutch sounds like an adjustment issue. Mine grabs right at the very beginning of travel and is very progressive. The redline is definitely easy to bang into, it feels like the motor wants to rev higher when you suddenly stop accelerating. I think my warning lights flash at 8,000 RPMand it shuts it down at 8,200RPM. I…
Agreed, I absolutely love my Scrambler but the throttle is snatchy. It’s a bit problematic on broken pavement or other rough surfaces. If I see a particularly rough section of road ahead I’ll typically shift up a gear or two so I’m not launching myself forward when I hit a pothole. Otherwise I can’t really find…
