I've been to Berlin twice, and 95% of the Taxis there are Turbodiesel E-Class Mercedes, and they're pretty comfy, boring, but comfy.

I live in Italy (More precisely in the Milano area, where these were built) and I've never seen one, so yes, they ARE rare.
