As the story states, a lot of the people sitting in the stands aren't as egalitarian or open-minded as you are about the gays. Part of wanting to be "treated like everyone else" is feeling that it's ok to BE who you are without having to hide. Stories like this bring needed attention to an ongoing struggle, and it's a

Versace tacky? Noooooooooo

Jesus, that almost seems like it could be the image they used to come up with her pose. Thanks!

Finally! Someone can answer this question for me, hopefully. I remember a review of a Kim Carnes album where the writer had a throwaway line about the album cover along the lines of, "at least she's moved on from the pre-Raphaelite image she was cultivating on her last cover." Care to interpret? (offending cover photo

"Sorry CatAss, we're not oufitting you in thousands of dollars worth of gem-encrusted silk and velvet only to have you schlep down our wedding aisle in orthopedic shoes."

Which is probably just fine with him.

As opposed to the "I don't give a rat's ass about anything that doesn't impact me personally, so the rest of you are wrong to care about it" worldview you seem to represent here.

I love Anna Faris so I'll watch pretty much anything she's in, which includes this film. Yes, by the end of the movie she decides her "number" doesn't matter. Interestingly, the guy she ends up with tells her that 15 minutes into the movie, but if she'd listened to him it would have been a short film. For the record,

Rat goes here.

What's up Star City guy? Marion, VA native here.

When a pedestrian and a moving train meet unexpectedly, shockingly mangled is maybe the best one can hope for.

This happens everywhere. People who live in NoVa (outside DC) think Virginia extends west as far as Roanoke and that's it.

And then they were burned at the stake, a la Joan of Arc, and their remains were left to smolder under a pile of sweaty towels.

We did burn Toronto (then York) to the ground on our way out, though. :)

The person who said that to you about chopsticks was a moron. That's not to say a little cultural awareness in other areas might be a good thing for some people.

Not true. Most of the asshats in California move there from other states.

I lived in Dallas for a few years and didn't find it very blue. Austin yes, Houston to an extent yes - Dallas, not so much. Maybe that's changed in the last 10 years, though.

Although I didn't always share Roger Ebert's opinions (I still remember how strongly he ripped David Lynch for Blue Velvet on his tv show), I frequently found myself nodding in agreement or even laughing as I read his reviews over the years. He clearly loved cinema and believed in its artistic (and entertainment)

Unless his adolescent life goal is to morph into Cousin Itt from The Addams Family, in which case I'd say he's doing quite well.
