I definitely agree that Nintendo have botched almost every aspect of the Wii U so far. Their greatest failure being the balance between Wii U and 3DS support. They were so desperate to make the 3DS a success that they threw all their resources into it, and let the Wii U just release with no support at all, and now

I honestly don't agree that owning Nintendo's back catalogue would make it a system to own. That's no different to saying that Darksiders 2 and Mass Effect 3 weren't reasons to buy a Wii U; we've already got those on other fans, and obviously the people that would get excited about the prospect of classic Nintendo

I spent a good year unemployed for a while, and before that I was in college so even then I didn't have much money. Renting was the way to go. For £10 a month I'd rent all the games that I'd wanted to play, but not enough to buy, and then I'd buy those special games that I just had to have, like Uncharted 3 and Deus

" I learned my lesson after the “crapfest” which was Resistance 3 (anyone that played and enjoyed R2 and tried R3 would understand"

That sums it up pretty well. It's just shocking to see that so far, every rumour has pointed to Microsoft getting everything wrong with the new console. Every single rumour only stands to alienate even more people. And now it's starting to sound like they're rushing the new console to keep up with Sony and not allow

Pretty much, but given that just about every other game provided better driving, gunplay and melee combat than GTA4, it'd be nice to see those aspects of GTA5 to see if they've actually taken steps to advance things. For example, whilst I'm not expecting, or necessarily wanting to see a Sleeping Dogs/Arkham style

There's an issue here that nobody seems to be mentioning. All of this sounds like Microsoft aren't quite sure what they're doing, they're having trouble securing games and building their own operating system, so it sounds just like they're rushing this whole thing just so that they don't lose ground to Sony. You

For what it's worth, I absolutely agree. Without the year headstart, and the lack of Halo at launch, I think Microsoft will definitely have a much harder time ahead of them this time. The real clincher will be whether or not Sony still provide online multiplayer for free, and they'd get bonus points for providing

The Red Dead ones got me hyped up too, so I bought the game at launch and then...Hated it! I found it so, so boring. It was easily the most over-rated game I'd played in years, hell, since GTA4 funnily enough, I found that one utterly boring too. So, considering that, I think I'll actually just steer clear of GTAV

Haha, obviously I understand that. I just find it concerning that not too long ago, the game was supposed to be released right around this time, and yet we still don't actually know what its gameplay looks like. It's fine to release these cinematic "get to meet the characters" trailers, but it wouldn't kill them to

You're not wrong. If two platforms have a game available on the same day, and they're both bought by customers, both sets of customers should have equal treatment because they've both supported you. It's ridiculous to punish one group just because the rival platform holder put a big bag of money on your table. Why is

If they're revealing it at Microsoft's next-gen reveal party, then you can safely bet that Microsoft are again paying for the privilege of using Call of Duty has their big thing, even though it's on other platforms. Due to that, official mentions on Sony versions will be reduced, to make the Xbox versions sound more

I know how it's going to play, I'm just hoping that they've made a few steps forward this time around. As far as gameplay is concerned, Sleeping Dogs was better than GTA4 in every single way; hand to hand combat, gunplay, driving, vehicular combat, the core mechanics were just so much more fun and engaging.

I can tell there's some gameplay in there, but I'd rather say real gameplay footage, to see how the game actually plays rather than seeing how sexy they can make it look with hours of fancy video editing. Some great editing can make even the most dull game look exhilerating, so I'd much, much rather see a few minutes

Okay, but when the PS3 was too expensive, people weren't just "not buying", they were buying the much cheaper 360 instead. Friends of those owners, then needed a 360 in order to play with their friends, and so they bought thesmselves a 360 too. And for the first four years of its life it did have a lot of great

Has there actually been any pure gameplay footage yet? So far all I've noticed is fancy trailers showing off the new characters and pretty graphics, and that's fine, but I had infinitely more fun and satisfaction playing Sleeping Dogs than I ever did with GTA4, so it's the gameplay that's going to have to move on a

I'm expecting the same. All rumours so far have pointed to Kinect 2 being in every box, and that's pretty tragic, really. In two and a half years, Microsoft haven't done anything to prove that Kinect's a valid input for games, other than dance/kiddy/party games, all of which are unbearably shallow and impossible to

Oh yes, Microsoft would've had to pay an absolute fortune, but it'll still end up on the PS3/PS4 sooner or later anyway, I'm sure. Doesn't matter if it does though, as, with the DLC for GTA4, New Vegas and Skyrim as you mentioned, by the time they finally did hit the PS3 I'd lost all interest and moved on anyway.

Thanks for sharing that, that's an interesting read! Friends are definitely a huge reason to use one platform over another, I can totally understand that one. It's just a shame that Microsoft thought they could get by with early Call of Duty DLC and the annual Halo/Gears and Forza combo. Those are still some great

That's a good point. With the PS3, "Only on PlayStation" has actually meant something, it doesn't mean "Only on PlayStation...For six months". I think Microsoft's biggest timed exclusive, and most damaging loss, was Mass Effect 2. Mass Effect was a fantastic reason to own a 360, but then ME2 ended up on the PS3 with a
