It didn't warrant two direct sequels, but Square Enix decided to make them anyway because they were cheap and easy, whilst Versus XIII was taking years and all their money, I presume.

Oh, I don't disagree. The lack of backwards compatibility is pretty bad, it's highly unfortunate that the PS4 won't natively play PS3 games, as, as you said, there are some huge PS3 games still to come. I'm hugely looking forward to The Last of Us and Beyond Two Souls, and I'll give GTA5 and Bioshock Infinite a good

I'd say an hour is far enough! It's not something that everyone will use or enjoy, but I think it's fantastic that Sony are trying to improve the way we can connect and interact with our friends when playing online, it could really bring down the barrier that separates online and offline multiplayer. If they then go

And why doesn't the new system carry over digital-only titles? Oh yes, because the system architecture can't run games developed for PS3. That's the core of the issue here. Backwards compatibility may not have been the main feature that made the PS3 expensive, but it would sure as shit be the feature that made the PS4

Oh, no, it doesn't. Absolutely. But there are many games that don't say massive profits straight away, and you don't see those getting shut down. Activision shut down everyone and they throw away any license that they can't turn into an annual money-maker with minimal effort.

I don't forget about the 3D Mario games, but the timing only further proves my point. Before NSMB, the DS and Wii all took off, each and every Mario release was entirely different, be it 2D or 3D. It was only with this last generation that we saw four identical 2D Mario platformers, when in the past no two had ever

Don't worry guys, he actually means 120,000 sold, not 12,000, that really would be embarrassing.

I'm extremely keen for the feature, myself. I don't like watching strangers play games on YouTube or live streaming sites or anything, nor do I have a particular interest in spamming my Facebook feed with "LOOK AT HOW I KILLED THAT MUTHA'" video clips, but there's something that it can definitely deliver for me. My

That's fine, I'm sure that if it launched for $600+ due to having backwards compatibility, you'd only be bitching anyway, "$600? Fuck off Sony, it's too expensive", as would everyone else, they'd have no sales within the first year whilst Microsoft and Nintendo fly off in sales, and when it's eventually cheap enough

Activision are genuinely embarrassing at this point. They've shut down every studio that hasn't made huge successes for them and allowed their output to dwindle to Call of Duty, Skylanders and whatever game poor High Moon have only had twelve months to put together this year.

lmao, I'm so glad it's not just me. I've been saying it for years and there's still so many people that just don't get it. You can't just make it look nicer, so it would have to be a full remake if anything at all, but a full remake that just looks modern would still feel out-dated by modern standards so they'd feel

I know what you mean, as far as platform exclusives go, Sony have had me locked down for years now. They're the only ones that manage to keep providing their classic franchises, whilst regularly adding new IP as well, and their third-party exclusives have been pretty fantastic too (Valkyria Chronicles, Disgaea, MGS4,

*sigh* There's always one.

Nostalgia's a powerful thing! And there's nothing wrong with using it, but when it becomes your only hook and you start to abuse the shit out of it, you're doing it horribly, horribly wrong.

I'd say so. The NSMB games make insane amounts of money with little amounts of work, so why would Nintendo try new things whilst their fans are dumb enough to cough up their money for games that are hardly different to the last ones?

That's fine, they may well be deliberately the same, but that doesn't change the sad fact that before NSMB became a thing, each 2D Mario had a brand new art style, a brand new playstyle, new world themes and ideas, new music, etc. Then, NSMB comes along, and they each have the same bland art style, the same world

Agreed. A large part of that is because we've aged and matured, our tastes have developed, but Nintendo still create the same games today as they did back then; they're creating for the same age groups.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that thought it was a little bit over the top. I love the guy's work to bits, but his and Nintendo's games have been coasting on their success for a long, long time now. Sure, they always put out good games, but they've lost their creativity and their ambition, and their games

Oh, I've not forgotten his previous achievements at all. I'm just saying that Nintendo in general have become so consumed by their success with the Wii and DS that it's changed their approach entirely and they're now terrified of taking risks, and so they're more than happy to pump out the same few creatively-void

Interesting that you bring up Xenoblade, that was definitely one of the most refreshing Nintendo efforts for perhaps a decade, but it hardly helps their case, seeing as they refused to release it outside of Japan anyway.
