That about sums it up! If you have the patience to keep your setup running smoothly with everything running the right versions of this and that, then you should be fine, but sometimes it seems like enough work to make it a full-time job in itself. o.O

That's pretty sweet. I've always heard great things about Valve and Steam, and they sorted my girlfriend's Skyrim problem easily enough, so I certainly don't have a bad thing to say about them, but PC gaming for me just seems like far more trouble than it's worth, to me, at least.

Not a single one. I played it for around 80 hours myself, and didn't encounter a single issue, on a saved file in excess of 12MB, and my girlfriend ran two characters, one at around 120 hours and one at probably 150 at this point, and she didn't encounter any issues at all. All runs had full auto-saves on as well.

She hadn't done anything with the laptop, like, at all. She bought it, she put Skyrim on it, and that was it. No downloading, no software at all, just Skyrim. I don't think she ever stopped to even use the internet outside of looking for answers to the problems she encountered.

I can't recommend that advice; they need to learn not to throw the Final Fantasy name on everything and anything just to sell it. They've been doing it for years and it has to stop.

Fuck the rest, now I just want to talk about Xenogears. I live in the UK, and back when I was a kid who had no idea about anything, I had a friend chip my PS1 for me so that I could get cheaper games, and one of the games on his little list happened to be Xenogears. I knew nothing about it (of course, given that it

My girlfriend recently bought a pretty pimp £700 laptop so that she could play Skyrim at her house, after playing the PS3 version at my place for well over 200 hours (I know a desktop would be more appropriate and cheaper, but due to the situation, it had to be a laptop). So she starts up, and Skyrim won't even open.

Nope, I'm not using this thread as a venue to lodge complaints at all, I'm just explaining to you why other people are doing precisely that. I understand your original point loud and clear, and I agree with you, I bet half the people bitching didn't even watch the video of the tech demo before moaning about how shit

I'll agree that X was the same as XIII in terms of linearity, but that's as far as the comparison goes. Despite its linear design, X was still a great game because that linear journey was plotted through a wonderful world full of engaging villages, towns and events that involved some really great characters. The world

You're entitled to like whatever you like, I honestly don't care one way or the other. Some people like XIII and XIII-2, some people hate them. Unfortunately for Square Enix, the vast majority of people that played XIII really didn't like it at all, as it sold 7 million units, yet XIII-2 struggled to break past 2

It's not just that it's linear; people play Final Fantasy games expecting a linear story-based adventure, they don't expect an Elder Scrolls-like experience. The problem was that the entire game (save for one area) was a three-metre wide corridor with no room for exploration or discovery, with no towns or memorable

I'll be honest here; Black and White was the first Pokémon generation that I ever skipped out on, and you know why? I'd just bought Dragon Age 2 so money was tight at the time so I had to hold back on my plans to buy B&W on day one, my brother, however, went ahead and bought a copy of White straight away. After a few

Thing is, Square Enix haven't earned a positive reaction. They got a lot of shit these days, but they've brought it all on themselves. They came into this generation as a titan, they were on top of their game and everything they released made into "Best of Year" lists, but then they dropped the ball in a big way.

The Last Guardian, FF Versus XIII and Agent are definitely the PS3's three biggest vapourware projects. I can get over Agent, given that we were never really given any details at all, not even a single screenshot, it just never really happened and that's fine, but the other two? I've been desperately wanting those for

I used to play my PS3 on a chunk-ass TV that took up half my bedroom, it was fine, it did the job, I didn't need to upgrade until it broke, so I wasn't going to bother until that happened, and then it did. I went out and bought a HD TV, and I'd never, ever go back to playing in SD again, ever. Honestly, the difference

My stand-out bad review "score" would have to be one from here on Kotaku; the infamous "No" for Uncharted: Golden Abyss. It was a great game, and when you consider that it was that gorgeous and that tight, as a day-one launch title, then your "No" just seemed absolutely ridiculous. "Blah blah but it's like Uncharted,

Only when it's on the back of a multiplayer mode that they'll play to death, and the single-player campaign is considered the added extra.

I'd take the Mass Effect DLC any day; all the multiplayer DLC has been surprisingly expansive and totally free for everyone, and the single-player DLC across both ME2 and ME3 has always provided a great amount of content full of great new story, characters and action sections. The Leviathan DLC for ME3 was fantastic,

That's not saying much when so far all they've provided is all of the DLC that was offered in pre-order bonuses. As for the length, I've seen a few times now that the King Washington DLC will total around six hours in length, with each episode being around two hours each, but for the life of me I can't find a source

This sounds interesting, but that price is absolutely insane for three episodes of content that provide around two hours of playtime each.
