Thank you for your service and thank you for fighting to protect our inalienable rights like free speech. Servicemen and women, current and past, generally agree that you were not training nor fighting to protect a flag—but to protect our ideals. Thank you!

Not to break the poignancy of the moment, but...it’s not like they’ve given you a lot of options.....

I am a white male and a Marine Corps combat veteran. I have been a Browns fan all my life.

Absolutely! I’ve already written on other articles that Tom Brady could’ve taken a knee on behalf of his half-black nieces last season and the controversy would have been squelched and put to mumbling, grumbling rest.

Ok, I think your comment is addressed to what the participation of white players accomplishes. So in your opinion, white players joining the protests will get white people to look at issues of racial inequality differently?

It was this or Trump blabbering about Afghanistan.

Who knows what herr Goodell would do? But if Kap is ever signed, I hope he has a sick enough sense of humor to find out..

Depends...what color is the player’s skin and how does he wear his hair? It makes a difference if he’s merely honoring his heritage or if he’s disrespecting the troops.

I actually think he’d dust off the lifetime ban. And then mouth-breathers could be all, ‘Free Speech! First and/or Second Ammemmen!’, and then Trump would be all, ‘what about the black Nazis who won’t stand for the anthem what about them’?

Goddamnit, Tommy!

Accused domestic abuser and Uruk-hai chieftain Terrell Suggs is still on the roster, for God’s sake.

My older brother lives in the suburbs of Baltimore. I think he’s tried being a Ravens fan (and Orioles), but last I heard he was starting to pine for the Jaguars again (he lived in Jax when the team started).

Ray Lewis saw no prison time for his role in a double murder (which he probably didn’t commit, but certainly aided and abetted) and has an issue with NFL players protesting cops who murder and don’t go to prison. Gotta hand it to the guy: at least he’s consistent.

I can’t conceive of any universe, with football or without, in which everyone wouldn’t hate Dallas.

Ah yes, football: the great unifier. Why, if it weren’t for football the fine folks from Boston and Indianapolis would be bitter enemies and everyone would hate Dallas. God blessed the United States with many things but chief amongst them is football and we are all better for it.

The founders were pieces of shit, pretty much without exception, and I have no problem with tearing down every likeness of them ever assembled. But it does not follow that because Confederate statues are coming down, all statues must come down. Even a very small child knows better than that.

I don’t know how the rest of the unwashed masses like me showing up in small towns are going to handle it, but I’m bringing 10 gallons of gas in jerry cans, days worth of dehydrated food, and 10 gallons of water. This is for 4 people so hopefully, it will get me through without my having to resort to cannibalism.

I just happen to be visiting my dad in Idaho when this happens. Not a huge eclipse nerd, but being able to do something special with my 82-year old dad is a treat.

As someone who worked on a phone service team for 5 years I beg of you to be polite and human to the person on the phone. They (most likely) didn’t cause your issue and are the one to hopefully solve it. I have gone waaaaay out of my way to help someone just because they’re polite. If someone is rude the call will end

To clarify - the better way to state this is that being put on hold may not actually be an accurate description. A good rule of thumb is if they tell you that you’re being put on hold, and the line just goes silent, you’ve likely been put on mute. The person can still hear you, and you’re still being recorded if
