I concur on every point. Even when the Brigadier's character was poorly written, Courtney managed to imbue some dignity (or appropriate and ironic lack of dignity) into the scene. I really would have liked to see him in Who again.

Not sure if anyone's ever pointed this out to you, but humour is a relative thing. Thus when you describe something as "almost never funny" you might really consider appending "to me" onto the end. Personally, I enjoyed the Bieber reference.

We get visited by the ones who are most like us?

I've heard this one before, but the question nobody has ever been able to answer is, whatever happened to the poor person who "particularly liked chicken necks"? Seems unfair.

@junior ghoul: When you think about it, unless any of us in this room have ever killed a man unnecessarily, then the same could be said for all of us.

@Brdf: Now I want to read a story about a smoking cyborg hyena detective, possibly with the voice of Humphrey Bogart. Thanks. It's like when someone mentions chips and you don't have any in the house.

Looks interesting, but MOODLE ftw. It's open source, versatile, fun, motivating and being used all over the world. I went to a workshop on it a couple of years ago and have been using it in my classroom and singing its praises ever since.

@digital_entropy: Maybe it's time to give a shout-out to that obviously awesome 3rd grade teacher of yours. Credit to you, of course, for paying attention and remembering. Unless you're in fourth grade now, in which case, let's face it, you just remembered it over the summer. Big deal.

It seems good, but at the same time extremely derivative of that Charles Stross sexbot book. Which was great.

@Charlie Jane Anders: Fine, fine. Ordering it from Amazon today. Willing to be convinced. Will have words if it isn't excellent.

@Palmerlime: Well, fair enough. But I didn't mean the fun silliness. For me, though the pre-Pertwee years seemed to have often been written by people who had no respect for the audience or the show. Jon Pertwee (and obviously everyone working on the show then) elevated the stature of the Doctor. Of course, as I

@Charlie Jane Anders: I refuse to look back at my childhood joys with objectivity. Until I get them on DVD that is.
