R.A. Lafferty. He wrote some of the most original stories I've ever loved. Sadly, I don't think any of his stuff is still in print - I had to shell out a bunch of cash to buy a copy of Nine Hundred Grandmothers after Neil Gaiman recommended it in one of his short story collections.
