Correct you are, the photo is from earlier this summer. I posted other photos from the event here: http://oppositelock.jalopnik.com/tedfest-sunshi…
Nor can you buy one unless they do it...
Props to Mazda on how they are handling this or render(/leak?), not fervently denying or failing to even acknowledge it.*Cough* GM, C7 *Cough*
Feast your eyes:
Incorrect.
As a first gen Mazda3 hatchback driver and someone who generally massively prefers 5-doors both in terms of looks and practicality, I reluctantly inform you that you are not alone.
1 point for every incorrectly applied assumption. 1 - 0 for you, I guess.
I thought we were making irrelevant statements.
I'm European and well aware that manual transmissions are far more prevalent outside North America. Thanks for playing though.
That air of superiority is another, separate issue which unfortunately reflects badly on those who drive a manual transmission and do have a good attitude about it.
My argument has nothing to so with people's ability to diatract themselves from the task at hand, I know people are plenty capable of inattentiveness, regardless of transmission.
I'm also not saying that it absolutely matters which transmission a car has for the person to be a good driver. I'm only saying the extra attentiveness required from a manual transmission can only be a good thing, nothing more.
As I mentioned in another reply, I believe it makes you a more attentive driver, whether that attentiveness is then used to be a better driver or an asshole depends on the person doing the driving, not the transmission.
If you're going to ridicule my suggestion, at least provide some reasoning.
I'm not saying it neccesarily makes you a good driver. I'm saying it makes you a more attentive driver, which I doubt anyone can argue is a bad thing. Whether a person then uses that attentiveness to be a good driver or an asshole has nothing to so with the transmission.
This newfangled third pedal I've seen in a few cars seems to do good things for its drivers.
Oppositelock started as Jalopnik's off-top forum for commenters of the site. It's still full of random discussions, both on the topic of cars and off but it has also evolved in into an excellent place for people to contribute their own stories/articles.
Also, you call that a wing falling apart? 'Tis but a flesh wound. Have at you!
