Well shit, you’re telling me trump becomes president in the “good” universe, too?
Well shit, you’re telling me trump becomes president in the “good” universe, too?
Given how she responds with little shit digs like this to nearly every relationship (especially marriage-related) question she gets, and that she has been very vocal about being divorced herself, me thinks there is something going on there. And not like I’m claiming to be any expert, but maybe people with more…
Canadian here, and your point absolutely still stands. Our famous “politeness” is really passive-aggression: we’re a nice people, but we’ve got some nasty white bs lingering beneath that veneer. When I’ve talked with my friends who are POC, they explain how racism here is very very often hidden in the “nice” bullshit…
I get your point, but calling her a racist improves nothing, and does not promote change..... maybe saying “that comment is inherently racist”, or “that seems like a racist thing to do.”
It’s strange that MIL is comfortable being racist, but wants to be accommodated with how she’s labeled. Being referred to as intolerant or a bigot is fine but racist is just too harsh.
I got to that sentence and stopped cold. What the hell, Jane? Why would you ever put that in there? Someone is having some relatively minor new in-law drama, and you suggest she married the wrong person? That’s.....I can’t call that a jump, it’s so far beyond.
Seriously. Yes. Also, why is racist MIL living there? They lived with her for a little while and now she as to inflict her racism on them forever in their own home?
We’re building drama here, not giving actual advice.
Also, maybe you married the wrong person? When that happens we often look for signs of trouble anywhere we can find it. Think about it.
True, but I think there are many people who espouse Nietzsche and only focus on the “will to power”, “god is dead” parts of his philosophy, while conveniently ignoring his attacks on bitterness, apathy, and anti-Semetism. Much like many Rick & Morty fans love the way Rick blows shit up and doesn’t give a fuck, but…
I do have to admit those are some good commercials. They don’t get me to buy anything, but they are good.
Agreed, there are too many shows now, and occasionally, it’s a little annoying. I have a buddy who’s always saying shit like, “I can’t believe you’re not watching This Week with John Oliver!” or some other shit like that. I guess he doesn’t watch sports like my wife and I do, so it makes sense to him, but it’s still…
Counterpoint- there’s no rule saying you have to digest the entirety of pop culture, and just from the law of averages more shows equals more great shows.
I think there is a certain personality type of fairly intelligent and perceptive person who goes through a phase in their life lasting maybe a decade, from about age 15 to age 25 or so, in which they realize that many people and many institutions of society are hypocritical and corrupt. But instead of continuing a…
Apparently that was put in the show because Justin Roiland wouldn’t shut up about the stuff. It was more than a quick mention in the episode, though. It was introduced in the beginning of the episode and they had a short conversation about it being a movie tie-in, and then there was an impassioned rant about it at the…
Saying something’s easy to hate doesn’t mean one hates it or that hate for it is justified.
It reminds me quite a bit of It’s Always Sunny; for a while I lived with a small handful of dudes who wanted to be The Gang, picking analogues in the show for who they felt best represented them, and emulating the various drinking games and habits they exhibited. It entirely baffles me that anyone would watch that…
To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Rick and Morty. The humor is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer’s head. There’s also Rick’s nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterization - his personal…
One of the primary criticisms leveled against Rick And Morty fans is that they mistakenly valorize Rick as a sort of uber-nerd, a shit-talking asshole who’s too smart to abide by normal social rules. Rick is always right, and when he isn’t, he still comes out on top, probably with a catchphrase and an episode-ending…
Between these two *redacted because I don’t wanna use that word* and the nurse that apparently called ICE on two undocumented parents trying to get emergency surgery (per Splinter news) for their 2-month-old...yikes. Can’t we get better screening for these kind of jobs??
