Not just MS but all of the publishers. It should be a unique opportunity to shake up the pricing models, as it's already begun with the pricing of mobile gaming.
But you're comparing apples to crayons. Not everything can be compared on the same level. Besides, have you seen ANYWHERE that this will cause consumers to pay more for used games (which you don't have to buy anyway)? I don't get why people are raging about this ...
Listen to yourself. Who cares? Used game retailers were making a killing off of these all by themselves, even though they basically had nothing to do with the game. The publishers and console manufacturers got nothing. Now, with this system, they'll finally get a cut of that money. And this is evil?
I'm more optimistic. I think this could reduce the price of games as a whole, since publishers will be actually making money on used games instead of seeing that all go to retailers. The one that really will hurt from this are used game retailers, but I'd rather them take the hit than publishers/developers or gamers.
And what will you do when it's revealed that the PS4 will have pretty much all of these changes too?
MS gets a cut now of all games released on the 360, just as Sony does for all PS games and Nintendo for all games released on their platforms. The only difference is that used game retailers aren't getting 100% of the profit.
No, it's not. In fact, based on statements made, it's more likely than not that both the X1 and PS4 will have something similar in place.
That problem won't rear it's head until the system is released, people buy games and try to sell or trade them in. Us knowing now won't change anything as long as it's cleared up before release, which it will be.
