@TRT-X: One of the reasons I hate every post-GH2 Guitar Hero release (beyond the over-charting) is that the environment and character design and animations are absolute crap compared to the Rock Band series.

@sandwiches: I suppose they could pick that up by the input from the extra buttons you'd slide ofer while bending...?

@Toothball: My thoughts exactly. The cymbal kit really does add something to the game (particulrly in the case of The Beatles: Rock Band) so it'll be great to see the notes charted properly this time around.

@DaveKap: On a 360 I'd think it would be identical to to The Beatles: Rock Band - all 3 mics would either be operated from one controller, or synched to one of the instruments.

@Shrewsbury: the only problem is that the guitar's 2/3 scale, like the regular RB guitars.

@BrilliantGreen: I wouldn't hold up the MGS games as a bastion of brilliant writing — the games have some interesting mechanics which is what makes them fun to play; the dialogue is hammy at best (though, for the most part, the voice actors are really good) and the plot strands are hugely convoluted and increasingly

@pressstart: I'd heard - via someone behind the scenes at Rare - that the XBLA port was finished and ready to go, but the licencing issues were actually down to Nintendo (as the original publishers of the game) wanting a greater share of royalties than MS were prepared to pay, meaning it never hit the marketplace.

@Anthony Vicario: Unless your own character is an Engineer, the harder difficulties are almost impossible without Tali. Trying to make it through the Luna base on Insanity mode without tech skills in your party is one of the most frustrating experiences of current-gen gaming.

@dnzperson: Oh joy, Neversoft return to their old ways of rediculously overcharting everything.

@ProperBritish: Doubtful. But hey! You can pay £90 for an individual Beatles-model drumkit or guitar to replace your faulty-US-market-reconditioned RB1 peripherals it you want! -_-

@Squirminator2k: To be honest I'd prefer an in-game option to do that - there are a few songs from RB1 and 2 that I like to play on occasion - or with firends - that I'd rather just didn't show up in random setlists.

@Ashkan.: That's most probably going to be a standalone track pack release, like the AC/DC version from the end of last year, rather than a proper Beatles-esque release though...

@PeterPlarker: Indeed. I'd like to see full album DLC for "The Bends" over any of Radiohead's other stuff, though - their later albums are just as good (if not better) musically, but The Bends is definitely the one with the most RB-friendly songs.

Great article, though I'm not so sure that experience of playing RB/GH guitar doesn't have something to offer people who go on to learn the real thing - after a couple years playing GH on "Expert" I picked up a *proper* guitar and was able to keep time and strum better than a lot of first-timers, or so I've been told

Ack, double-post.

@PlasmaMachine: The premise is the same, but it's the difference in execution that seals it for me (and I suspect, most others who prefer RB).

The video amuses me because it's bascially the exact same experience as in 75% of a player's game-time with OpFlash and ArmA - run around for 5 minutes only to die without any clear cause (the other 25% of game-time being made up of random crashes/bugs).

Another of my GH series faves makes its way to Rock Band in the form of Billion Dollar Babies... still waiting on Unsung, Fat Lip, Hey You and Bark At The Moon though :^)
