I neeeeed to do this on my shower head.

I’ve wondered about that as well. I’ve heard amended returns are more likely to be audited, and I’m not sure it’s worth the hassle for the extra refund.

I believe somewhere in the comments on Ars, he said it was around $250. So total with SSD was about $300. It’s still pretty expensive, but not over a thousand :)

I feel like some extra info could clarify people’s questions. From the source article:

1) The mini pc doesn’t really cost a thousand bucks... it’s just sold out.
2) They’re soon going to test other hardware from Ubiquiti and Mikrotik.
3) They’re soon going to test other software, like OpenWRT and pfsense.

Well, they’ll be showing that option, too. From the source article: “In the next story in this router series, we’ll test [...] a brand-new Mikrotik hAP_ac router (with wired performance better than the wired-only routerboard 450)“

From the source article: “[In future articles] We’ll also take a look at running pfSense and OpenWRT on the homebrew and see how (or if) they impact its throughput.”

It’s out of stock, so $1300 is just a deterrent from ordering. I think he said he spent $250 + the price of the SSD.

I think in the future he actually will be comparing to Ubiquiti routers and some Mikrotik stuff as well. I’m very interested to see how that turns out.

I agree. They also need to get better about their bandwidth management. On slow connections, Netflix usually does a pretty good job, but Amazon struggles.

Bluntly, that is terrible advice.

1. Dimmer Switch
2. Fan timer (if it’s currently just a switch.)

Those two make a pretty big difference.

I prefer a locked in-wall cabinet. It’s still in the master bathroom, which is plenty cool in my house, and it avoids the humidity and curious kids.

“Whatsa matter, Red? You scared???”

For live TV and DVR, I disagree with your “better” assertion. Or the music playing interface, for that matter.

I haven’t had this problem.

This is one of the best “How I Work” interviews to date. I like how the questions were a lot more specific to the individual instead of being rigidly scripted.

I pretty strongly disagree. As soon as I saw this link, I tested it against several products I just bought and compared it to my opinion of the reviews, and it was pretty much spot on.

Whenever somebody mentions Shepherd’s Pie, I think of this video:

This is true. You can even hear it cycling on and off on most microwaves.

I hadn’t heard about this. Fascinating topic; thanks for the link!
