I have had problems booting to a liveCD/USB drive on newer Windows computers. The UEFI (the BIOS? Whatever) has a ‘safe boot’ mode the pretty much considers any non-Windows OS to be ‘unsafe’, and so will not boot. It has to first be disabled. I think that whatever setting feature that lets you change the boot order…

My wife knew someone at a local Catholic church who volunteered for this. Years ago, when there were unaccompanied children coming to the U.S., there was a call for more volunteers, and an offer for a background check and training. We went to the training, etc., but we were not needed at that time.

For Windows computers, I use Paint.NET for paint-stuff. It falls between Windows Paint and GIMP, and I almost never need more power or features. It’s ‘just right’.
I have been using Softmaker’s “FreeOffice”. Not open source, but still free. I find it handles well, and is less clunky than LibreOffice. It’s on my phone, too.

I don’t speak Spanish, except for a few words, but my wife and I volunteer to assist asylum-seekers who have been released from ICE detention. We have found Google Translate and Microsoft Translate to be extremely helpful.
