What I’d really like to see is irradiated fresh strawberries! I can buy a pack of strawberries, and they’ll turn into fuzzy mice in a couple days. A good dose of radiation would make them last much longer.

These are great to have, and really inexpensive. I have the more expensive electric kind, with heaters, etc, and I must say that it’s not really worth it. Just get the cheap ones. They do a good job at a fraction of the price.

Open-kettle canning (that is, without pressure) is suitable for high-acid or high-sugar foods, but not for low-acid foods. Spaghetti sauce might be OK, but some of us have “Chef Boyardee” tastes, and make our sauces low-acid. These might not be suitable for open-kettle canning.
