What I like to say is that a ‘side effect’ is the effect you’re not paying for.

Yes. It’s nice that there are talented and significant people who come from Alabama. But Alabama, and the nation as a whole, has a terrible legacy of slavery and racism to overcome. For some, it is a legacy to shun, and one to remember as a warning. For others, it is strangely a legacy of fond nostalgia.

They do show enough insight to associate Trump with blatant racism

It’s funny to consider Alabama as virtuous because it ‘gave us’ Rosa Parks. It ought to be to Alabama’s unending shame that Rosa Parks’ act of disobedience was even necessary!

No. I feel like I am using the chicken legs that I purchased to their utmost. By the end, the only things that actually go into the trash can are a few pieces of the long bones that are too hard to easily crush after pressure cooking. Everything else has been eaten. I eat the meat and broth, while the vegetable scraps

Well, my Japanese bidet seat uses electricity.

Matsumoto said that, in its effort to improve a driving feeling they call Jinba Ittai (“Connection between horse and rider”), the company studied the human gait to establish a “platform that optimizes human ability to balance.”

Maybe the windspeed gauge went past the stop, and looped around back to zero, before picking up again to 25.

They used to set up shop, put on a show, steal the townsfolk’s money, and then get the hell out before things got too hot.

No, not because all of those who do these jobs are dark-skinned. It is sufficient that those types of jobs are staffed disproportionately by members of dark-skinned minorities (or by women, who I forgot to include in my comment). Those workers who are white are simply part of the acceptable collateral damage.

I agree. If anything showed up in Truck Driver Gray’s blood, the police lawyer could argue that he might have avoided the collision, had he not been himself impaired. Even caffeine might imply that Gray was sleep-deprived while driving.

Police are facing criticism for engaging in high-speed chases, because such chases are a danger to the public. In this case, the suspect lost control of his car, went over the median line, and had a head-on with a truck. It could be argued that the police were partially responsible for the truck driver’s injury

Many labor laws were written with exceptions for people in service industries and agriculture. This was pretty much done in order to keep wages low for African-Americans, who were disproportionately working in such industry sectors.
