the drive to have kids, in everyone, is not that logical.

I have the same buzz about being a father. I impregnate women as often as possible.
The only "ewwww" thing here for me is the phrasing, and Jezebel's is a lot worse than the woman's.
I agree, but I think her obsession with pregnancy, to the point that she's willing to risk grave physical harm to herself, is kind of disturbing.
So...a woman finds pregnancy to be a positive experience and has waived the surrogacy fee to give three children to families that want to adopt, and we're going ewwww?
Man at first I was getting ready to cringe in horror at a tale of a woman with Way Too Many Kids, but instead, she's a surrogate. For free. That's.. kinda awesome. What a good way to deal with being hooked on pregnancy.

Thank you so much! I was just coming here to copy the same quote into this conversation. If you're going to report on a study, at least read it! Even if you are not going to talk about it critically.
If this is your honest, educated opinion maybe teaching isn't for you.
They rioted because they had a flimsy excuse to riot. Nothing more. Nothing less. As a teacher for eight years now, I can honestly say high school students are the most devious people on the face of the Earth. Sad but true.
Great reply. I have to add not only are natural substances drugs, but people need to be careful about interactions when using natural drugs as they can produce side effects with OTC and prescribed drugs. One needs to speak with their doctor before hopping on the "natural" bandwagon.
PREACH! Sounds like a fellow scientist to me!
Next you're going to claim that there are chemicals involved in mother nature's healing cures! Did you know that many products from the evil pharmaceutical companies are processed with the same chemical used in industrial cleansers? Some horrible thing with a long, scary name called: monohydrogendioxide. They're…
Thank you for the p-values. If there's one thing the average person doesn't seem to understand, it's statistical significance. Because it is so rarely explained in any news article shouting "OMG NEW FINDINGS!!"
Congratulations, you've just joined the club of people who are consistently appalled at how terrible Jez's science reporting is. I'll see you back here next article to demand they get someone at least took either a basic level stats class .
Also, as noted by hecticglow for anyone who's not yet seen her comment, NO benefit was found for thyme oil over the ibuprofen. They were statistically indistinguishable. The Inquisitr write-up is heavily slanted and factually inaccurate, and the original journal article is the scientific equivalent of junk mail.
Well spotted. I looked up the original article, as I always do, because a good 95% of the time these stories are reported misleadingly. I spotted that the journal is seriously dubious and the thyme oil was "donated", but missed the fact in my skim-read that there was not even any statistical benefit for the thyme oil.
Always be the Cold Hard Science person. Please. It's a dying breed.
Not to always be the Cold Hard Science person, but:
