No. They are asking that these books not be taught at this college. It’s not high school either. It’s college. These people are ostensibly adults and can actually choose the courses that they want. This is book banning 101.

I might agree with you in theory if this was a high school class. But it is not. It is a college course that she enrolled in and paid for. As a college student, you have input on what the curriculum should be by choosing which courses you do or do not sign up for.

For the past two years I’ve taught The Watchmen in my freshman composition course. While I’ve never had a student complain, I have had parents bitch to the bookstore about how comics aren’t books or that the violence of The Watchmen is inappropriate for college freshmen. It’s never gone any farther than that.
