Messages+ is great. QR/QC, notification center integration, works fluidly with iMessages. Also, if you get IntelliscreenX(which after using I can't live without) Messages+ is free and included with it.

The idea that jail breaking lowers your battery life is ridiculous to begin with. A jailbreak does ONLY one thing. It gives you root access. That is like saying that on your Macbook you get worse battery life if you enable the root account.

I tried Netatalk a while back. It worked decently well, but I remember encountering some weird bug. I can't remember what it was, but I remember removing Netatalk because of it. Also, I never encountered a 1MB/s cap when using Cyberduck.

Cyberduck connects via SSH. Obviously this only works on a jailbroken iDevice with OpenSSH installed, but it does work great.

Had an MSI Wind U100 on 10.6.7. Ran perfectly, never kernel panicked ever. Surprisingly snappy for an atom CPU. Also, once I put an Airport wifi card in it, everything worked perfectly.

I use a variation of this technique. I slip the end of a butter knife between the jar and the lid, and press the bottom of the butter knifes handle toward the jar. It does the same as your technique, releasing pressure inside the jar. Works Every Time.

Or take the butter knife, and slip the end of it between the jar and the lid, and press the handle of the butter knife toward the jar. The leverage allows a tiny gap for the pressure inside the jar to escape, making it super easy to open.
