I think that argument becomes moot when you’re talking RVs, though. When you have an apartment with you, pausing for 30 mins - 1 hr to charge becomes much less of an issue.

There’s no reason you can’t do so within reason as well. I know people who recently bought lightly-used C6 ‘Vettes which they can afford but will probably sacrifice savings for when they could’ve had just as good/fun an experience in a cheaper C5 or even a C4.

The only “uninformed” person in this thread is the one claiming Volts need battery replacement, when they were specifically engineered for battery longevity, and there are multiple 100k+, and a couple of 200k+ models roaming around with minimal battery degradation.

A lot of people miss these two factors — When optioned well, the Volt is a pretty premium driving experience. Second, from a performance standpoint it’s no Mustang, but it’s certainly not a boring drive when in “Sport” mode.

The Voltec powertrain was designed to be “fuel-agnostic.” The motor/battery combo can just plug in to whatever power source you like, which would be very cool to see in a Diesel.

We previously were able to, although it’s not recommended. The car will draw 110v at either 8 or 12 amps. You’re best off finding a circuit that can support the 12 amp draw as the 8 amp charge is slow.

This is all moot if you spring for a level 2 240v charger and circuit though. Have it installed near where the car is…
