I think that argument becomes moot when you’re talking RVs, though. When you have an apartment with you, pausing for 30 mins - 1 hr to charge becomes much less of an issue.

Justy-fy?

There’s no reason you can’t do so within reason as well. I know people who recently bought lightly-used C6 ‘Vettes which they can afford but will probably sacrifice savings for when they could’ve had just as good/fun an experience in a cheaper C5 or even a C4.

Last-gen GTO? WRX? Might find a V6 G8 at that price point.

Perhaps it was a factory option!

The only thing they’d need to do to make this 100% better looking. Straight across on the top of the doors.

“Awkward,” maybe. “Cheap?” Absolutely not.

It already is — Look into it. Make sure you understand the tax credit — If your tax bill (cumulative, owed to the government exclusive of withholding at the time your return is filed) is $7,500 or more, you’ll get that amount. If it’s less, you’ll get only that amount.

Also, when shopping, make sure you understand

You should check out a Volt with the rear seats folded down. There’s a surprising amount of cargo room.

The only “uninformed” person in this thread is the one claiming Volts need battery replacement, when they were specifically engineered for battery longevity, and there are multiple 100k+, and a couple of 200k+ models roaming around with minimal battery degradation.

Also, claiming that you bought a VW to avoid expensive

A lot of people miss these two factors — When optioned well, the Volt is a pretty premium driving experience. Second, from a performance standpoint it’s no Mustang, but it’s certainly not a boring drive when in “Sport” mode.

You appear to be one of the few in the thread that actually understand the Volt’s value prop. My wife is able to do her entire work commute (40+ miles) on electric every day. Less than a buck to charge the car overnight to that level. Then, when we go to visit the in-laws, a 150-mile round-trip, we can take the same

The Voltec powertrain was designed to be “fuel-agnostic.” The motor/battery combo can just plug in to whatever power source you like, which would be very cool to see in a Diesel.

I believe the new Malibu hybrid’s electric components are based on the Volt’s.

We previously were able to, although it’s not recommended. The car will draw 110v at either 8 or 12 amps. You’re best off finding a circuit that can support the 12 amp draw as the 8 amp charge is slow.

This is all moot if you spring for a level 2 240v charger and circuit though. Have it installed near where the car is

E and S-Class owners think exactly the same of you and your C-Class as you do Camaro, Mustang, and Challenger owners. You should lose the snobbery and let people drive what they enjoy. The 6-cyl versions of those 3 are kicking out 300+hp now, it’s nothing to sniff at.

Ever since we bought a Volt I’ve changed my highway mindset to be like yours. Cruising for efficiency and staying out of the way. Like you said, it’s refreshing, and almost relaxing.

They drafted off the Suburban? That’s stupid, cheating, and should invalidate any record.

Guess what? They could go even farther/quicker if they put the Tesla on a trailer behind the ‘burban!

Right, because the existing electric infrastructure is based around coal, nobody should buy an electric car and attempt any sort of change, right?

People still die in car crashes, so why bother wearing seatbelts?

My DD (as of yesterday) is a 2014 Volt, which as a commuter, in Sport mode, is surprisingly entertaining to drive.

My weekend car is a Corvette. Best of both worlds!
