I was just typing a very similar response. Best Buy will bend over backwards to satisfy the customer, so always throw a stink if something like this happens. They are more than happy to work with you.

Paint.NET rocks. I mainly stick with cropping, resizing, and mild color balance work. Maybe sometimes stiching two images together. I sometimes pull up GIMP for more in depth work, but 99.9% of the time, Paint.NET does what I need it to.
