Was looking forward to a car-related QOTD but I guess it's Demolopnik for today.

With regards to the fastest lap time, he claimed he was reacting to Alonso but I think it was just his way of saying "Expect to see me on the podium often from now on."
Tell me about it. Then again, they mentioned the road crown that's visible on the roads at various parts of the circuit. I guess if your tires are riding on the low points of the road, then your underside must be scraping along the high point.
Isn't it banned? It does make you wonder though.
What I'd like to know is how only Kimi/Lotus managed to pull off the 2-stop strategy even while maintaining enough pace to keep up with the front runners (Vettel, Alonso, etc.). That's essentially why he won the race. Is the Lotus car friendly to tires? Did he put on like 1 or 2 laps on the super softs during quali…
Spoiler alert: If you don't want to know the results of a car race, don't click on a car website.
Good on ya. I'd like to buy a GoPro but can't justify spending that amount of money. Although it would come pretty handy when you need it.
You must be talking about the brown kid in the Acura TSX on the 401 in bumper to bumper traffic. Correct me if I'm wrong.
The E92 M3 sounds pretty good thanks to its V8. High revving too.
I'd have to nominate BMW's inline 6 engines. BMW have mastered the inline 6 engine but haven't really payed much attention to tuning the exhaust note coming out of it. All you really hear is just machinery working away. It doesn't sound bad but it doesn't really sound good. There seems to be no character. AMG…
I agree. At least 2010 and 2012 came down to the wire in terms of crowning a world champion. 2011 was absolutely dominated by RedBull and was somewhat boring as a result. I'm looking forward to this year. I will be up at 2 in the morning to watch the race live. I'm so F1-deprived it's not even funny.
Looks like the only thing that's changed in F1 (simply based on the two practice sessions thus far) is that Mercedes and McLaren have swapped places.
For that price you can buy an actual E60 BMW.
Looks like it's limited in the Dynamic mode.
They should start putting transponder chips in the belt buckle similar to a key so that the chime will only turn off if the actual buckle is inserted.
You go out of your way to not wear your seatbelt?
Yep I agree with 10 years being quite optimistic. I never disagreed with that. I was just trying to clarify the principle on which he thought the valves operated. However, maybe I misunderstood him. I really hope they bring this out as quick as they claimed. Everyone can benefit from this.
Yep. I agree that 10 years is optimistic. Or as you said "very very optimistic". Nevertheless, I hope they manage to pull it off. This is technology that everyone can benefit from. More powerful and more efficient is always a good thing.
Oh I absolutely agree that 10 years is very optimistic. Notice how he said "production" and not "mass production". Big difference. And the time for new technology to trickle down from an exclusive hyper car down to mass production economy cars can also take a while. Nevertheless, this technology can only make ICEs…
Solenoids paired with pneumatics is a very proven technology. That's how Cargine's engine works. The valves are not directly actuated by the solenoids, rather the valves are actuated via the pneumatic systems which are controlled by solenoids. Different concept.
