There is a DIY on how to disable it. I believe it's as simple as pulling a fuse. I remember seeing a before/after video and it honestly didn't sound that much different. Not sure why they even bothered with the system. I'd have to hear it in person before I judge. I, like many others, just don't like the concept.
Interesting. Thank you for that. I had no idea.
I suggested #9. Not Mike_Smith. I want credit where it's due!
Cutting corners? Sounds to me like developing a system to pump aritificial engine sounds into the cabin via the sound system is the exact opposite of cutting corners. I'm not a fan of it either, but it's anything but cutting corners. They actually went out of their way to develop this. No idea why. Maybe for the…
This seems like something I would've known and am suprised to hear that. Do you have any sources to back that up? I did a quick Wiki on variable geometry turbos and nothing came up about VW's TDIs on that page.
I was just gonna ask the same thing when I saw that sentence.
Except the one Cargine and Koenigsegg use operates on pneumatics and not electromagnets. Nevertheless, the idea of a camless ICE is just awesome. Infinitely variable valve timing, throttle bodies can be eliminated, EGR valves can be eliminated, and so much more.
I guess the "because racecar" argument would be automatically assumed for this particular "Show us" segment. But it never hurts to include it.
Contrary to popular belief on Jalopnik, BMW nomenclature still makes sense.
Harlem Shake?
I believe for most automakers the automatic transmission is the option whereas the manual transmission usually comes standard.
I'd like to see some data (Nm/degree) with some credible source(s) before I believe a statement like that. I can almost guarantee that the FR-S/BRZ has greater torsional rigidity than the S2000.
Because DOCH VTEC.
This. Very much this. I always longed for and S2000 with a roof. I will never own a convertible. Just the thought of the poor torsional rigidity compared to its theoretical coupe equivalent makes me cringe.
