I was there too! It was awesome. I'd love to take my daughter, born after that, to one!

You ladies are now on Slate for your RBG love - congrats!
You have just been quoted on Slate by Emily Bazelon! She things Jezzies are wrong, but still...
Yikes. This makes my high school hazing look like nothing. When I made dance team, the seniors took us to a parking lot in the middle of the night where some football players taped pages from porn magazines to our bodies and sprayed us with hoses. (Texas, y'all!) OK, I shivered when writing that, and its f'd up,…
I remember that as well. I slept really poorly during pregnancy. Then after the baby came, I had mild PPD plus post-partum anxiety - that fun stuff that makes is virtually impossible to "sleep when the baby sleeps" because all I was doing was lying there waiting for her to wake up (which she did between every 20…
Maybe this will help me finally be completely happy with my current relationship set up. I am in the BEST relationship of my life - he's everything I could every want. But...we're both divorced and he very likely never wants to get married again. We're fully committed (though not living together - maybe someday but…
In good ol' Virginia, if you have children you have to wait six months. My ex was definitely dating during that time. I was just a puddle of wha no husband?; wha I've got an 18 month old? wha I've got no job??? Not a pleasant time..
Any tips on how to delicately tell your partner that him being on the phone all the damn time is really rude, while not demanding constant attention? We live apart, and he's big into posting his beers/food/checking in (yes, he's one of THOSE!) - cool for a few minutes, but some dinners he's on the phone more than…
I have a hate-gasm (love that term) for this reason almost every day while commuting in DC. Almost makes up for the pure rage of assholes merging at the last minute while the rest of us take our turns.
That's how my school did it. I was valedictorian my like .03 points - it was common for the top kids to avoid non-honors class like typing, health, pe, etc. for credit and it really came down to making sure you did that because all the top ten were basically above 4.0.
Don't worry, I dropped Little CatChick a couple of times (including once, in the yard, at her first birthday party, in front of all my friends). She's learned to walk and talk and read and now is a regular chatterbox, annoying but amazing kiddo!
She has my pale skin actually, and blue eyes and her hair has straightened out, so she will likely avoid those direct comments, but will still probably be troubled forever when she has to check a box or asked.
My smart, gorgeous, funny, bi-lingual, (and yes, bi-racial) daughter doesn't deserve to live in a world with these idiots. The racist haters can take their boxes of non-Cherrios cereals and put it where the sun don't shine. Must go watch some more Patrick Steward to put me out of my rage.
He's amazing. The steady male CatChick companion knows he's so in my "Free five" and fully support this. I'm almost stole the Picard Pez dispenser from his recently purchased boxed set.
Yea, I totally planned that my ex was going to bail on us when my kid was 18 months old and I had given up my job to move for his career. Should have seen that coming and when he said he was ready for child, predicted that in exactly two years he would ask for a divorce. What was I thinking?
Aw, thanks. She's pretty great at telling me, even at her young age, that what she really wants is my time when I try to buy her toys or ice cream to make up for the guilt I feel. You mom sounds awesome.
I am a single mother, and I do get financial contributions from my daughter's father. But it is still fucking hard, every minute of every day, since he choose to work primarily overseas. On top of all you mention, Little CatChick is and only child and constantly making me feel even more guilty for not having the…
Oh! I so need laying in a field of dandelions. Haven't thought of that, my fave strip, in ages. Thanks for the pick me up!
Well, I'm not glad she has a son who will learn from her that girls bodies are for objectifying, gawking at and controlling. My daughter would never be allowed around people like that!
I don't want to sound like one of those "I'm going to move to Canada!" folks who never mean it, but I've lived in VA for 15 years and would very seriously consider hopping the border to very-blue MD if he wins this fall. The only hope is the 2-year governor terms here.
